Ok I know that all of the people say that SWG does not support laptops but is there a way to get a laptop with a Radieon 9000 g-card on it to play SWG? I got the game intending to play it on the road cuz I travel all over and now I cant figure out how to do it.

My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.
Why doesn't DOS ever say "EXCELLENT command or filename!"
Customer: "How fast will my COM ports go?"
Tech Support: "How hard can you throw your computer?"

If you're really serious about hardcore gaming on a laptop. I believe they come with either a 9700 or the 5900 GeForce FX.
Very nice laptops.

What will he do next?
Got a friend who has a friend at Apple. He got a Mac Book Pro (or what ever they are called, the high-end one) and they play CoD2, CS, WoW & SWG on it running XP. I have a gamer PC, and he gets FPS equal to me... He says the only issues are drivers, but that they seem to become available pretty quick.
I may be getting one soon, they're graphic MONSTERS (I have PP Tower I use for Media). For $2k you can't beat it... although that $4k Alienware is SWEET... oh, and the high-end XPS laptops can handle SWG easily...
MAc Book Pro
XPS
Voodoo are nice, but expensive...
*Side Note: Dell just bought Alienware, so expect XPS' to get better and Alienware to get worse, hehe.
*Side Note: Just custom configured a SWEET 12.1' XPS (they're real small & lite) with a sweet medium gaming rig (you have to upgrade the HD, Sound & Vid Card) for under $1800... that surprised me.
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
I used 2 different lap tops for my gaming and both worked well for swg
1st one compaq Presario 2500 2568cl
2nd one is hp dv8210us while second one was fanicer i ended up going back to my 1st one cause it was more portable and fit me better .
Love lap top gaming and both systems worked just fine in eq 2, swg, wow, and daoc
Those systems can be found at outlet stores tiger direct under a grand now a days
Gateway now owns emachiens and sells a more current version for about $1400.

SWG is heavy on TnL and shaders, and although gobbles up memory with textures, they don't impact performance much. Integrated graphics cards, especially intel based lack TnL, and emphasize texture pipelines, their shader support is most likely minimal (depends on versions).
Due to mostly procedurally generated world, SWG always made heavy use of shaders. This puts decent load even on modern cards, and the non-instanced representation of characters means they use TnL heavily.
Just about any standalone graphics card Radeon series, nVidia, with shader support 2.0+ will run SWG well.
Most difference will come from having more than 1gig of ram. That's probably the greatest bottleneck.
I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
...and making SWG a better place to be

for what it's worth, SWG runs fine on my Dell Latitude D620 using the builtin graphics (Intel 945GM). Otherwise, if you are using a Radeon and having any issues, try http://www.omegadrivers.net/. I have used those on machines in the past and been very satisfied with the results.

First of all, Alienware sucks. It's kinda for the rich kids who just have to much money to spend and would like a brand name.
I've build a PC with 2x the power the under half the price.
When playing SWG on a laptop , the main thing you gotta worry about is your built-in video-card, most laptops have build-in unless you wanna spend an insane amount of money (around $3000) getting somthing thats just a name.
Tbh, You should be fine with 512mb ram, 1.6+ dc processor, and a build-it card, but play it on low settings,
atm im running,
2x 8800gtx
2.6 DC overclocked to 4.1
3GB RAM
I can practically run anything smoothly, but it costs alot.
So far i can say yeah it does game well but their customer service is the suck unless you speak spanish.I had to send this one back 3 times and diagnose it myself cause their repair department sucks..but back to the topic...
If your gonna spend the money at least get a dual core cpu, 256 ati/geforce card ,rams cheap now so at least 1 gig..Dell makes a decent one for around 1800.00 most decent alienwares are 3k and up..Voodoo is owned by HP now so not sure if their overpricing will change..Just research and make sure you build with games in mind..If not just build a desktop for half the price..I like the fact i can game anywere anytime
I just purchased a Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz 800Mhz 4M Cache
2GB DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
I am hoping that I can run SWG on max settings.
Hiyas,
Just curious as to how the game runs on a laptop with those specs?
I don't know yet. I made the purchase online on July 27th, and it won't arrive till August 28th. Apparently there backordered. But seeing my Desktop is a Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading 1Gb of Ram and the X600 Radeon video card and can run the game, I would think pretty good.
hey i use a laptop to play swg
I bought an alienware few weeks before SWG hit the public. It was a area 51m 5500, 16.1 inch screen, 80gig hd, 128 bit video processor ati radeon mobility 9600. It worked well in every part of the game as i played most of the professions throughout my subscription. I cant seem to even recall a game time where it didnt run 100% to my satisfaction in game. This was one of the first 128bit video processors to hit the market and it did very well too. I was on the server Bloodfin witch was the second most populated server and ati seemed to chuged through it well.
btw...i play on laptop SWG nd it plane rocks....xD
PS...i Wish i had a desktop...lol..
I try not to play games on my Dell Inspiron 1501 (yeah LOL), but I found the Omega driver helped for the built in ATI X1150 but only has 512M ram and I have been meaning to upgrade that, I was able to put Call of Duty 2 and City of Heroes on it with slightly noticable video lag but tolorable, and SWG is a bit less graphics intense so it should run smoothly.
