Pets

People should be able to own and train bets in the game, unlike WoW anyone will be able to train and use pets in battle

There could be many pets that you could use, like bears, wolves, rhinos, mooses,( they could ram ppl with there antlers), eagles( they use there claws for battle), foxes, and tons of other animals

But unlike WoW you could also arm your animal with amour( amour strength would depend on your animal size) and you could also do other stuff with your pet, like teach it tricks on your spare time and other stuff. You will also be able to own a max of 2 pets.

Since Warhammer is an IP you just cant give every class pets, it's out of the universe of the game, and probably wont happen, there will be pet classes tho, Squig herders for example

Hmm pets, I prefer not to have anyone or anything running after me trying to keep up which never works out great.

If it was well thought of it might be a cool idea, but not like you say it, that would not be cool...

Doesn't sound like it would conflict with the IP. It would add to character customisation too.

There are examples in Warhammer Fantasy of certain characters having pets, like packs of attack animals.  It's not a far-fetched idea.

But what would be neat is a pet-based class with multiple pets, rather than just one pet at a time.  CoV's Mastermind was perfect in this respect; you could have a pretty nice group of pets, some with different abilities and everything (i.e. attack, heals/buffs, etc.).

If there are pets, they will revolve around pet classes, like the Squig herder. And, if the Squig herder is any indication of how Mythic wants to do pet classes...well...let's just say it will be very interesting.

Pets are fine but they need to be limited to certain classes.  If you give every class pets, you either have to nerf them to uselessness or allow the entire game to become about the pets.  Neither is really a good option.

The Squig-herder and possibly a Dark Elf Beastmaster are about all we're likely to see for pets, at least at release. When Skaven come out, there's the possibility for Clan Moulder packmasters, I suppose. Off the top of my head I can't really think of any other Warhammer units that use pets (except maybe necromancers, but they're probably a bit more powerful than we want to make characters in this game).

You should be able to have not just pets, but skeletons.

I would say not to allow everyone to have pets, or even every race.  Just allow an option for races with a strong history of having pet-based folks in their ranks to be a pet class.

Okay, this'll be a rant so just skip if you're not interested in a narrow point of view on the matter of pet classes.

Pets don't do pets justice. To put it short, but confusing :P

I've played a share of pet classes before, and like I've been discussing with a good friend who's _always_ been a petclass guy, the worst part of the play is their horrible AI if any at all. It'd be interesting if you could have a pet which was played by another player on your terms and instructions, but not very userfriendly :P but I doubt the day will ever come when pet pathing issues are non existant.

Pets right now are just glorified dots. Dots you can kill, but in PvP it's always smarter to just kill their master, so they remain simple dots you shrug off as best you can. If pets were given personalities giving them their own behavoir patterns and the chance to make dynamic decisions under the restictions given by their masters it would add a whole other level of play and make pets pets.

In the PvP rich enviroment WAR will give us personally I'd rather not see pets at all, if they can't have the qualities of this rant ;) Imagine getting ambushed and the only reason you survived was not because your pet was set to "defend - attack when I'm attacked", but because it made the right decision to snare one of your two attackers and finish of the other who had say 1% hp left giving you a window to escape... or dieing because in the middle of combat your pet decided to hurl up as a ball and hide behind a rock leaving you to fight alone.

I don't agree with you there. You might be right about the Warhammer lore only has those 2 classes that could might have a pet, you're wrong about the fact we will only see those 2 at launch. If they get pets at the release they would at least balance it for both the 'Good' and 'Evil' side. So 1 class per side that has pets...

    just my 2 cents ;)

Other games like legend of mir of had pets and they didnt really work out great, they got stuck and didn't keep up with your char properly, or got killed. So I think they shouldnt be implemented, its less work for the programmers anyway.

Well I went to check what critters were available in the Warhammer Fantasy Armies game. I guess you could call some of them pets

There was a War Hydra, Giant Eagles, Dragons, Warhounds of Chaos, Fleshounds of Khorne, Screamers of Tzeentch, Chaos Nurglings, Wyverns, and Griffons. These could be part of the armies so I suppose they could be pets.
