I agree that Eve is a very good looking game. However, and I intend no offense, but creating content for an original space game is far easier than creating content for a fantasy game. For the space game, you typically don't have to include any animation, the engine does all of the animating for you. When you are creating humanoids, you have to make them walk, run, jump, swing weapons, etc. Not to mention that modelling a basic humanoid character is far more complex than any space ship you can dream up.
Even with the above paragraph, I acknowledge that graphics quality does play a LARGE part in selling online games. I surely hope that Red Bedlam is planning to upgrade their graphics in the near future. (based on the screenshots that I've seen.) However, that will not stop me from playing the game. And if the gameplay is as good as I have heard, I can easily overlook the lack of graphics, though I understand that some folks won't be able to.

I understand that, but quite frankly I don't care. I don't think to myself, "well, it's a small low-funded company..I should just give them a break." I think, "damn this game looks like hell." It's really not an excuse.
Look at a small developer like CCP. They have managed to make Eve a fine looking game. They aren't even close to Blizzard and major people in terms of funding.
Because CCP received the money to create a game, where a lot of the staff members of redbedlam have yet to receive their first pay check..

O so what the graphics arnt good so what I think we live in a time when we can expect both good game play and great graphics. Why couldn't the developers of Roma Victor do a better job on the graphics? What is the point in not having great graphics? Why make a car ugly if you don't have to. A car can be built well but if its UGLY...it will definately sell less. I feel the same rings true for any video game. If graphics weren't an issue I'd still be playing U0. I didn't spend $3,300 bucks on a computer to play Ultima Online.
WoW kiddies aren't the only ones who won't touch it and I doubt it will popular at all but only time will tell.

Firstly it won't be a game for everyone, maybe if it survives and gets support, maybe than it'll also be able to apease those who will be dissapointed by it. Roma Victor doesn't met wow and EQII in some(many) ways people who like EQII and WOW(and even I) want it to but there are also many ways which it exceeds those games and they are things that people will play for, if you doubt you'd like to than I wouldn't recommend Roma Victor to you, at least not now.
I'm happy in a way the graphics aren't the best(although I'd love it to be better than the rest aswell), (in my opinion) This is because those looking for the game to present all its positives straight away and without fault will probably be dissapointed and maybe by not having those graphics people who are willing to look for and contribute to the community may become more domminate thus enhancing the game(especially with a game that allows for it like RV does).
PS, I'm yet to play a game were I'm happy with both the gameplay and graphics. Eve(from what I played) had depth but I'm looking for something were I can run around, be a human (or human type) characther not a space ship etc so not that for me WOW and EQII did for me and the only (MMORPG) games ever to do so for me. However WOW and EQII gameplay was enjoyed by me but also veryshort lived and I tired of the gameplay very quickly.
EDIT AGAIN: Also I don't care if the game is popular so long as there are enough people around who can make the game be interesting by enjoying the best it has to offer which during moments of testing became suprisingly evident how few it did take due to there playing styles adding so much to the game.(which is made possiable by this game and some won't like that, because it means the game isn't soley driven by static NPC quest and raiding mobs and monsters which can be presented anywere anytime and straight away without any real learning curb cause those games are so similar once you played one you may well have played them all. But for me this is a huge positive, leveling(skill development), crafting and fighting in Roma Victor is more of a means to another end(which is player driven or your choice)and isn't the entire game like the biggest MMORPGs out there)
LAST EDIT : I believe the very small team deserves credit for there ambitious game and whilst not ignoring or giving the game immunity from the way the game won't match up with the big dogs but because in alot of ways it exceeds what the huge companies have done.

I was distinctly unimpressed with EVE's graphics. The individual ships look pretty good for the most part, but they're really just screenshots. They have no real animation, gun turrets turn a bit but that's all, and there's no changes to them like battle damage (aside from one smoke graphic on your ship if it gets to hill). There's no visual customization, apparently paint won't survive in space. While the models are good, they get old after a while - the limited, exactly-identical-looking types of space station, the common ships you see all the time, and other repeated elements just don't do it, especially since the backdrop is almost exactly the same everywhere (aside from the one place with tornados that someome always mentions).
Plus there are graphics glitches, one I distinclty remember was that about half the time, the engine exhaust didn't actually come from the engines and go back, but started from around the nose of the ship, went back, kind of disappeared where it hit the engines, and came on back from there.
And, of course, you have to actually work to see the graphics in combat, generally you just see bunches of small xes, crosses, squares, circles, and triangles since you're zoomed out. When you do see them they look neat, though try not to notice that your blasts/shells/missiles always hit the exact same spot on the enemy ship and do nothing to it. And when you do look at them, it's pretty much only for screenshot purposes since there's no information conveyed by the visuals.
Seriously guys, when you're going to talk up EVE talk up it's actual strengths, don't try to convince people that the graphics are impressive.
