Let's cut right to the chase, I'm new here (obviously by my very few posts) and I'm starting to develop a taste for these kind of games. I already have asked people what would be a good beginner game in the general forum and got great friendly responses. Anyways, about this Star Wars game I think I got enough evidence from all these posts that this game is a total waste. Which is sad because I for one am a star wars fan. Not a fanatic mind you but a fan. My main problem is I don't really see this game lasting for another year and that worries me. I am a person that is looking for the online game that will last me a few years. Ultima Online and Everquest are great examples since they been out for quite awhile. I want a game I can come back to down the road and still find fun. It's not about graphics or age of a game it's about Is It Fun To Play. If swg is fun for You Great! But there is a lot of evidence of brokeness and bugs still roaming around. I'll probably check it out again when the expansion comes out because it still has a little potential left but if it is still a mess than forget it. Whew. Sorry about my little rant there.

That's what you get for using a forum, usually a magnet for whiny/angry people, as your main source of info on something.
I have other suspicions about this thread.. but I'll let you do all the work on those.

If you wait to do something until the last minute, your more efficient since it will only take 1 minute.
Negative please tell me what you mean by you're suspicious of this thread. I don't know what you would be suspicious of I was just trying to say my piece about this game from info I got around the net. I'm not trying to be rude or misleading in anyway.
OK, since you asked: I have my suspicions that you might be an alternate nickname for one of the current obsessive malcontents who plagues this forum. I'm just sitting here observing you to see if I can tell which one, if it is the case.
Hell, you could even be an alt of Xplororor, if he's insane enough to make an alt account just to argue with himself. (I wouldn't put it past him, from what I've seen so far)
If you're truly NOT an alternate account of an existing user here, then you really need to do some research on how things work on the Net and learn to take what you read in them. (especially the whiny/angry/hateful stuff about whatever topic) Forums are to malcontents what trailer parks are to tornados.

Negative, why do you complain so much? LOL. All I ever hear from you is either: A. this thread sucks OR B. you people are stupid. You end up sounding like a whiner, the same type of posters that you dislike.
Instead, why don't you join a discussion without trying to sound all high and mighty? Please drop the "I can see how everybody complains, thus I must tell them what babies they are, making me better than all" attitude.
As for the topic: The worst thing about SWG is the company who made it/controls it...SOE. Now, only you can decide if a game is fun to you, and you are more than welcome to try SWG...but know this: SOE will not listen to you and they don't care if you like it or not. Having said that, I wouldn't worry about SWG being around for awhile. As long as the subscriber base doesn't dip below, say, 50,000 (I'm just estimating here), SWG won't have any problems. The fact is, many people find this game fun, and put up with the problems to "live in the SW universe". It's just not for me...
P.S. Negative, an easy way to spot xplororor is that he must quote everyone he replies to. hehe. He must quote! I tell you! He must!

Ha!! Funniest thing I've read on here all week.
Anyways, you're gonna find two sides of the fence around here. Those that love SWG, and those that hate SWG. In the end, you're gonna have to make up your own mind. All these posts can do is to help you come to that conclusion.
Myself, I registered on day one (June 26, 2003, had to install Mozilla just to register my account, it was that bad) and had some serious fun for about 2-3 months...
Then came the massive bugs.
Then came the missing content (quotes: "It's a mmorpg, make your own content" == Kiss My @ss).
Then came the broken professions (Are droids still useless? Probably)
Then came the themeparks that simply did not work. (maybe they do now, I don't know...I have my doubts)
Then came the lag from Hell. (Again, maybe it's better. I don't know)
Then came the simple regular quests that didn't work either. (Go to co-ords x,y to get your reward. Half the time, there's nothing there. And if you did get your reward, it was usually a broken data-pad, or something else just as fun).
Then came SWG:Pokemon. Fighting's all about who has the biggest and baddest pet. It looks like dinosaur city out there. Though I think this has been nerfed somewhat. (If you ever do play, try typing the word 'pokemon' into the official forums... it gets deleted because SOE got sick of the thousands of pokemon references.)
Then came the horrendous, bogus, lame Jedi system. It flew against everything we were told it was going to be. The 'unique system to each player for becoming a Jedi' turned into everybody camping for Holorcrons. So bring your Pokemon pet.
Of course, SOE's customer service deserves an honorary mention. You want to see the absolute worst service you can deliver to someone who's paying to use your product? SWG's the place for you then. No-one can deny this one. If they do, let me know, I want to see that comedy.
So, again, make up your own mind whether you want to try it or not. I'm not sure what I could recommend otherwise, except FFXI. Horizons didn't seem to live up to the hype (It has its own major problems). I'm holding out for WoW (read the new review at gamespy), but you never know, it could suck too.
But, it couldn't suck worse than Star Wars Galaxies.
You've been warned.

You choose to focus on the posts where I call some of you out for your crap. Any "normal" (read: not damaging to your fragile little egos) posts are largely ignored, conveniently enough for your little tirade there.

Hey Clonemeance I have to tell you for me SWG was what I thought was a godsend for MMORPGs. I thought how could they go wrong: developers from UO and EQ brainstorming to make a Star Wars MMORPG!!!! Excellent! I held on to my old UO account because of the fomula of no levels, but a skill-based system.........how wrong I was....
Like I said I enbraced SWG with open arms, I needed a refreshing change: my own ship, my own shop, my own house, secretly developing force powers. I was going to wreck havoc on the galaxy! But alas my hopes were soon crushed and it wasn't even by Vader's hands. Where to began....
Let's just say that me and a few of my friends all picked this game up pre-launch so we were the lucky few who had a chance to check it out in final beta. I loved it coming in. So much to do that I didn't mind that spaceships were not in yet, vehicles/mounts were not in yet, classes were bugged, the economy was ENTIRELY player-based, loot was unheard of, weapons/armor was made and never bought off NPCs, missions were redundant, high-end content was sorely lacking.....
I stuck with it until the day came when I mastered Scout and Ranger........I was thrilled! There was money to be made, but not in the way the devs saw fit. Missions were bugged to death I tell you, I had over 700k of credits and was about to buy a guild hall for my own personal use. My friend had over a mil and was a master smuggler, so he was making credits faster than me. But it was the way that credits could be made via exploit that turned me off. It was this easy:
Go to a high level planet, Dantoonie---->imperial outpost was my favorite, pick a mission that paid booku credits-->making sure the lair was a dead log type, run to said lair, camp inside, target the lair and destroy it from the inside out. Presto! A instant 17k and not even a scratch. My friend and I did this for weeks until they finally fixed it. But by then it was too late.
When you had stacks of credits and nothing to blow it on then the economy suffers....price jacking was the order for the day and it showed. Then the nerfs came in , then them trying to 'fix' broken classes. I blew through Jabba's themepark in 2 days. I then I found a 'new' way to make credits...I got bored with nothing left to do. And don't even get me started on the whole jedi thing........I gave up on that as soon as I found out how pitifully tedious that was to do.....but hey Clonemenace, enjoy it while you can and if you need any tips on how to make cash hit me up....
