Is this a joke?

If its not, I would think not since the whole concept of the game is an online game offline. Thats the main purpose of it and its uniqueness.

Yea, that's what alot of people say, but also theres been a LOT of talk about it going online. That's all and if it dose, lol i'd pay $20 a month to play it ^_^ lol( i know alot of other ppl that would to)

horrible idea....I mean what are you gonna do play a character in an online world that is playing another character in another online world? .hack was a good rpg...but as a mmorpg it would suck. Sure they can make it...but then again any game can be made into an mmorpg, that doesn't mean it will be good. I could not see it as being anything but a flop.

I don't reall mean like making Dot hack online, but "The World" they systerm inside of dot hack real. I really can't stand most of the mmorpgs out there know and i think that "The World" Is an awsome idea. Considering they change a few things, I think it could become a super awsome online game. Keep in mind, not Dot Hack, but "The World" is what I whant to come out.

How will it not be a good mmorpg? The whole series is pretty much an MMORPG!!!!! So if they have good game creators it should work ok.

Yea, I agree. Considering they changed a few things around, I think that the game would be a massive hit. Not to mention if in a few years they added those goggle thingys, but i think that'd prob just be a dream for me lol.

I think your missing the point of the game...your not supposed to be actually contolling kite...although you do control him you are controlling the person playing the mmorpg as kite...hence you go check boards and all that crap...if you actually wanted to make it an mmorpg it would suck....think of the storyline...characters going into comas, blah blah...cause it was hacked...hence the name...so if you want this as a mmorpg to play then you should be prepared for your character to possibly be deleted, skills reduced, just die for no reason because you would have to follow the story.

I don't care about dot hack. all i want is The World. And there can just be quests and stuff. not a story line like dot hack. i don't WHANT DOT HACK! i want "The world" The game that the charecters play, not the hacked version or anything, just the game "The World"

Oh man, how cool would that be. The funny thing is I am usually not into anime or anything like it but I caught some episodes of the tv show and it seemed pretty darn neat. I even just ordered the first PS2 game.... anyways, it sounds novel.. but only if it was the virtual reality goggles et al. :-)

Granted I am a newbie but.....

I Completely agree with the concept of "The World" being an online game. The anime is one thing. The suspense yada yada. The creators of the anime .hack hit on something that many felt comfortable with and that is the simplistic concept for "the world" as an actual real mmorpg. I would love the settings layout in the world with the ability to offline email as well as online email. voice command controls not keyboards, visual impact through goggles not monitors. Granted the suspense would be lost as far as the comas but the programming can always build around other events. In this there were many aspects, not just the players them selves but the things available to them so they wouldn't lose interest in the game. Maybe that is was Ulitma was so amazing when it first docked online. I just think with a little hard work a mmorpg with the magnatude and appeal of 'the world' isn't such a bad idea and I for one would love to play it and support it.

It would be a decent concept, but they are going to have to modify it around if they made "The World" (what an original name XD) a real MMORPG. But there is one thing they would have to keep, GRUNTYS!!!!! :P.

I believe they are actually in the planning stages of a .hack online RPG. *YEAY FUN*

I'm not totally sure, but I do know that they are making another .hack game, aside from .hack//ABSOLUTE ENCIRCLEMENT games (The current line of four games). I will be called .hack//ANOTHER BIRTH and feature BlackRose as the main character. But what do I know, check it out for yourself!

OMG.. "THE WORLD" is no diffrence than a log in screen every MMORPG have.. man thats so screwed...........whats the point..unless u can have a mmorpg that brings u to a random place and u can change serveers in game and stuff.. and maybe the same combat system and u can call ur friends too..other than that..i think it's rubbish to put it online..

many 200 years later.. games will be like that.. u buy the headset and *PUFF*.. u are in "THE WORLD".. and u think it's really reality..

Hmm, "The World" sounds like an awesome Would-Be MMORPG. If they'd do something where you can access more parts of each City, and have something Unique about each city, and unique Keywords, and then fully customisable characters, and some merchant that can let you re-customize your character for a high yet acceptable price...

Better types of worlds would be nice too. Like, more description besides some jewels. Jewels do not tell how many Magic Portals are in the Field, or how big the dungeon is. o.o'

And then there's the Headset. That would be just friggin awesome. Hearing my 13-year old self sounding like an 18 year old speak to some guy asking if he has this powerfull blade or acouple speed charms or something...

And the boards... I'm the kind of guy who can track down and tell between trouble and playfull jokes. I'd be like, the WouldBe Board Moderator. "Instead of deleting your offensive message, I'll come see you in Delta: Discovered Passionate Someone's Giant."

I swear this would be an awesome MMORPG. It'd be better in the greater days of Technology though.

I believe its an awesome idea to make it yet with this idea.

Your not trying to solve the mystery of stuff and your not finding out people in comas but instead you make your own account and your own character then log into a server where you can rp with other people. If anyone here knows anything about the anime is that it has different classes of Fighters and stuff along with interesting spells and techniques which I believe would be the whole thing.

It would be an awesome game as quoted before yet with the information I want everyone to know this, without the base idea of dothack is it's story and without it we have another simple mmorpg like WOW(World Of Warcraft) or everquest.

Hey, they made Warcraft and The Sims MMORPG's, and WoW turned out great. Don't see any reason why .hack couldn't be great. Kinda seems wierd though, it'd be like the first MMORPG of a person playing a mmorpg. It's like a game inside a game, trippy!

The original poster said "The World" MMORPG. ^^' You should read more of the elder posts.

They could simulate the ALTIMIT Desktop right into the game! The News would be Game News, and the Email could be Messages from players, like the PM System on a forum. The Audio would confugure the Sound Settings, the Data would configure your Name and Profile. And then The World would have "Enter" "Board" and "Profile (Character Configuration)". Wouldn't that be friggin' awesome?
