This is my 2 cents nothing more nothing less. Dont read message boards to try and decided if ur going to play a game . Use ur own judgement , most of the peeps that post on these boards are simple casting their opinion.
Lets take a couple of games as examples
WOW -Con its to easy ,has a crappy community, etc those are most of the post I see. The community is what u make of it so this cant be a fact just a opinion. Its to easy , well dont let someone else use this as a reason to change ur mind, this is a opinion also ( This is my opinion but it might not be urs)
Pro - why else would 6.5 million play , This is so stupid i laugh everytime I see it posted. It doesnt matter if 6.5 million people decided to cut of their big toe because it made them smarter I still would have to read some facts about it . Same as for WOW read the facts to decided/
Vanguard-Con its to hard, just for hardcore gamers etc, guess what there is no GAME just for hardcore or casual gamers this is just a stupid opinion also. If u want to put in 1 hour a week and that 1 hour u play is funner than the person that puts in 11 hours what does it matter.
Pro-Its a challenge , Its not a kids game etc, Well it will be a chaallenge for some people but for others they will be max LV pretty quick thats just the nature of the beast use ur own judgement here. Do u really bealive there will be not 1 teen play Vanguard LOL ok then.........
The point im trying to make is decided for urself dont let some other person sway ur choice by casting their opinion out on some internet board. Your going to play a game sooner or later and ur going to hate it, its really just chance whether the game will appeal to u or not. I always hope that people arnt this simple minded to have their choice made for them by some other persons opinion.

I'll tell you why people come here asking for opions...
You can't tell how good a game is by looking at the box.
Has it occurred to you that people read message boards to use other people's opinion as a barometer for whether or not they will like a title? The key is to use one's judgement to filter out the chaff "This game sux" from the wheat - a well constructed argument on the pros and cons (merits) of a particular game.
I frequently use other people's opinions in other decisions in my life which have much more major ramifications than deciding on what MMORPG to play. As stated above, the key is the ability to use one's own judgement to filter these opinions.

I'd much rather a bunch of strangers on the web tell me not to buy a crappy game than me go out and buy a game that sucks.
Is it so wrong that I value the opinion of a faceless stranger more than my own?
Ok then maybe i should have added this LOL. If u can weed threw the 99% of " This game sucks" post and get 1 that actually tells u why the game sucks then u could call that fact.
I just get sick of tryingo find out about a game and getting just "This game sucks" post so yes maybe i took it a bit over board.

Opinions meen alot,but you do need to use around 20% of your brain when reading them,.Some people post good opinions that cover alot of aspecs you could be looking for in a game,can help out alot.Bud silly mindless opinions like "This game rocks you can pwn in it" or "This game sucks you cant jump" is the differnce.
So if you dont like opinions or dont trust them,. then go play DnL,I didnt play it but Im sure its not somthing to try ATM.The massive Opinions about it are nasty and in full force,. but hey,.go drop 70bux. go try it,I know im not.
I agree with what you are saying, after all tastes vary. But an overwhelming consensus should be considered, it normaly has some foundation, as should your own opinion. Weigh all the information up and you should come to the right conclusion. Normaly the truth lies somewhere between the far right and the far left.
