Leaving WoW and looking for a new game - any recomendations?

Hello everybody.

I have been playing World of Warcraft for a while, but am kinda growing bored with it. So I was wondering if I could get some recomendations for another game, as apart from WoW I'm kinda clueless when it comes to other games.

I loved WoW from level 1 to 60, but after that it just was not for me anymore.

So, apart from WoW what's hot these days? :)

hmm, Give Everquest 2 a shot. its a litle like WoW, but longer, and it has a little more depth.

    Saga of ryzom.

    In depth.

    good crafting/ressorse gathering

    satisfactory exploring and mob hunting.

    Good community.

    Hybrid skills/level based game.

Big starting citys, lots of npc shops and players can sell there items to.(like swg bazzars)

I would suggest DAoC (Dark Age of Camelot) Its fairly old, but has gone through massive graphics and gameplay updates recetly. Its easily the highest ranked MMORPG in my book. If your looking for storyline DAoC, attempts at having a good storyline, (but not really accomplishing it) until the end of your levels were actual story driven missions start to appear. It has a massive race/class system with tons and tons of options. The different "specs" you can try as a character also make your character unique and fun to play.

The original EQ isn't too bad a possibility, though the graphics have advanced somewhat. When EQ1.5 comes out which might be later this year, it would certainly be worth a try as you have many diverse races and classes.

    WoW was my first MMO.

I went to DAoC after that and haven't looked back at all.

I am also playing EQ2 right now and having a blast at that.  If you like PvP then go with DAoC, if you're more of a PvE player then EQ2 is right up your alley.

I like both aspects of gameplay, so I get to pay for two subscriptions a month now.  Hehe.

    It all seems so stupid
It makes me want to give up
But why should I give up
When it all seems so stupid

I've been switching back and forth between EQ2 and CoH/CoV.  Both are entertaining for me.  Currently I"m subscribed to CoH/CoV because Issue 7 was just pushed live and there is more content to take my villain through.  If you want to take a break from hack-n-slash fantasy like WoW, give it a try.  If you are looking for more in the same genre, then I can personally vouch that EQ2 has lots to offer a gamer.

    Everquest 2 is LOADED!!!

It's got tons of stuff to do.  And they've just added more with the latest adventure pack.  I'm having a blast with it.

Lol, u both gave me eq2,

I know sony can get in depth, like with swg, it was pretty cool for the most part.

But Ive played so many others i dont know much about eq2.

Like whats the best races, and classes.  Is it a like a skill tree. or are the quests like wow (which are boring on average).

I am in same boat as many of you. I played WoW since release now and I am finally quiting/getting rid of my account after getting so many 60's and gearing them out. I use to play SWG and Earth and Beyond Before. I loved earth and beyond but have since shut down due to swg space, SWG is sweet i loved the p vs p, how you didn't have to be on at a certain time and the way you could sell your stuff in your house and set up towns.

I thought of going back to SWG and giving it another try but wanted to see what else is out there and what will soon be comming out. I liked the FFXI with how hard it was to lvl trade skills and lvl your acuall character but there was a major lack of good p vs p and not a fan of all those non-american's who can't speak english. Guild wars didn't look to interesting as EQ games didn't.

I will look into Saga of ryzom as someone stated in this thread, other than that What are some of the future games that are acually looking good so far in your guys opinion. Warhammer looks like it is a very popular one to look forward to so I am going to check that one out. What are some other ones thar are worth looking into?

Keep in mind that In depth Crafting and trading system, great p vs p at all times no queues and so forth, and challenging lvl system are main things to me. With no reliance on being on at certain time for 40 people to go kill a boss is really important to me after playing wow to as that is most sickening thing ever unless you can just get the people together at any time and don't have to set certain times.

lol @ EQ2 adventure packs. Almost as bad of an idea as that DnD online fiasco they call a game.

I don't know what one can say without knowing what you look for in a game.

Are you looking for good PvP? Try DaoC

Want the popular "in-thing" that is different or better graphics? Try EVE

Want a good RP game or good mature community? Try Horizons

and note all of the above have free trials.

I was in the same boat as some posters here a month or so ago (you can do a search for my original post asking pretty much the same question of which MMO to try).

I tried a bunch of the free trials, and am settling on EQ2.  Having much fun with it right now.  Player housing, great community, fun classes, etc.  I was a bit nervous because of it being SOE, (I played SWG from release up to Jedi Revamp... then quit) but they did a good job with EQ2.

If anyone decides to try the free trial for EQ2, I would try doing a "good" toon.  For some reason, I liked the good side better on the isle.
