More power to them...overhyping their game isn't going to help them in the long run.
Right now it appears their argument is over our "estimated" release date of D&L and how much of a waste this site is....
Regretably they fail to understand the concept of the word "estimated" and the true benifits of this site to their own...
For their sake I hope this changes.
Presently I am in contact with D&L's Press Relations Officer to determine an accurate release date, so as to quell this bickering.

Malkavian, I'm sure your right on the money. Why any company panic's is beyond me. I'm sure all gaming companies want higher ratings/reviews but, you think they are grasping at straws or what. DnL looks like it would be an ok game, they just don't say too much about things people are looking for.
Keep us informed as to what you find out and many thanks for the information.

Is there any point on getting too excited about any game? I think most of us here know that few games have ever been the same after release. I mean alot changes in order to rush that game out the door. And usually we end up with half the game that was expected. And as always, the rest will be added in future expansions.
Over-hyping a game means if it doesn't actually produce everything that is expected right off the start, there will be many disappointed ppl. SWG comes to mind..

and to UOAndrommie: yeah, guess ur right... we all saw what happens to over-hyped games, another victim that just got released and that was overhyped was horizons.
but still i think D&L "could" be a good game... but all these "omg omg omg, [put gamename in here] will rule so badly, u other games just sukxz0r!" posts, without the game even being in beta or month before release, are simple bullshit.

Exactly...if they are real people coming to hype the game then all the power to them. That is why we have the hype-meter. If you have a game you think deserves it more then go stir up the pot somewhere...we can always use more peeps hanging out around here
I hope you all understand even if we wanted to there is nothing we could do to stop this behavior short of taking down the hype system...which I don't think is a good idea!

The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.
It's not a good idea...there's really no point to it. Scores are always subjective, and short of a massive conspiracy the numbers always even out over time. An overly hyped game that gets some gamers to play because of the overhyped score will have those gamers return and blast it with minimal numbers, and scathing ratings.
If it was an "official" review, then that would be another matter. But like all opinions from people, you have to take what you read with a grain of salt.
i really dont mind then trying to hype up the meter for DnL, on the other hand i wout be sade to see ppl go in and give DnL all zeros trying to fight it,

umm to be honost with your... i think Dark n Light is a pile of crap... (well after playing dransik for many months you know and understand what a good mmorpg game is)

Stackin' the votes in favor of their favorite game on a site that they have dubbed as a "crackpot" site is nonsense. If you look at the thread all you'll see is "ooo that American site is crap" and "ooo that must be an American site because they don't do things our way."

I mean seriously, who gives a rats ass who makes the game and what nationality they are going to focus on. If the gameing companies want to compete on a national level then the only thing that is going to come out of it are better game developments. One day a game will come out that will take the best elements from the best games from each different nation and combine them for the best MMORPG ever. Then they will claim that they are from mars and we can take this to a Planetary level.

I think the game looks great, and I gave it a high score on the hype-meter long ago, though this is the first time I've read the forum in question.
Much of the thread being referred to does degenerate into juvenile insults and overbearing opinions, but the same can be said for a lot of the dialogue that takes place here on this very site.
If you want to be able to say you're better than that, you really need to BE better than that.
I tested Dransik in its Alpha and Beta stages. It is a simple 2d based mmorpg with a lot of potential.
If you ever played Zelda, you'll love this game.
