ok well i downloaded the eve online trial back in october 2005 and i hated it. i remember that it used to take 30-45 minutes to do each delivery job and all i did was sit there and watch my ship fly. i briefly tried mining but i kept getting blown up by pirates (they kept coming in sets of 3) and i LOST money because the veldspar i mined wasn't worth crap. then i did some combat missions and those were a bit better but it still took me like 10 minutes of flying to get to the combat area with the npcs and then i had to kill them and fly back for another 10 minutes. i couldn't make money at all. i remember some really nice veteran gave me some isk so i could buy an imicus but other than that i didn't usually have more than 10k isk on me at any time. i just read the post about what you should do in your 14-day trial but i'm not sure how that is different from what i did (other than the fact that i didn't try pvp mainly because i couldn't find anyone). can anyone tell me if i played the trial wrong? cuz i know this game is rated really really good so i must be playing wrong if i can't see the excitement. any help would be appreciated because i'm currently bored of SWG, Planetside, and just got done with WoW so i need a new game to play...

If you want to run hauler missions, it would make sense to bookmark five jumps or so in all directions from your agent station ... that should cover most hauler missions and virtually all combat missions, and really dramatically cut down on your travel time. A pain to set them up, but once they are set up they save a huge amount of time.
Nope mate not true. Did you play the tutorial? If you dont want to get killed by rats(u call pirates) mine in .8 or above they are safe. I myself started with tutorial then did the training mission alone on that i made 200k + so yes Id say u doing somthing thing wrong somehow.
1. Play tutorial
2. Do training missions (u get a +1 implant at the end which u could plug in or sell)
3. Get urself into a player corp cos they will help u on ur way.
U can message Sinder Ohm in game IF you have completed the tutorial. I will give u some tips and help if u still need some.
Good luck in EVE mate
also, train up and use afterburners and microwarpdrives, they make getting from place to place much faster
Make of it what you will.
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the game more. Be sure to give your learning skills some love to speed up your training time.
As far as PVP. Well, first I would post on the recruitment channel in the EVE forums and simply state that you are a new player that wants to get into the PVP game. I imagine that there will be a lot of like-minded corps that would like you to grow with them.
As far as solo, well if you don't mind risking your ship, you can either run around in low sec systems and try to kill pirates, or do the opposite thing and be a pirate. Just stay clear of gate and stations while you have your offender counter on.
Welcome back to EVE, hope you enjoy your time here.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"
