My entire guild quit SWG with the NGE..all of us full template pre-cu jedi etc..
Question is...is it decent enough to come back? We miss our community and maybe what friends might still be around, but that doesn't mean a whole lot if everything is all fubar'd

Nothing has changed.
They did tweak stuff here and there, but it's NGE.
However, if you consider things like default attack speed changed from 0.25 to 0.4 seconds, and dot duration changed from 10 to 15 seconds, then this is a whole new game.
FUBAR is a gross understatement. this game is literally insulting to intelligent gamers and especially those who remember what SWG was in its prime.
every single day on the Nazi boards are posts about 3 year vets getting fed up and cancelling. hopefully it will continue and we will see a classic server offered from soe, or the emu will put SWG out of its misery once and for all.

And to answer the question the game sucked when NGE hit.. True they have been adding fixes / patches etc... You need to ask yourself though why did you quit when the NGE came out? If it was because of lag and bugs and what not then you might enjoy whats there now. If you quit because you didnt like the combat then you might not like it since it is still the basterdized FPS.
My advice is you should have a free 10 day vet trial, or you can try the 14 day tryout... Either or give it a shot (dont give em money though unless you want to resub) to see if you like it and go from there.
All you are going to get in these threads are those of us who hate the NGE... And those who will support it as a needed change..
Decide for yourself.

Squidi I am currently playing the vet trial. I can now confirm you have been speaking lies! This hellish nightmare is NO where near decent. You should cease with your bullshit comments. It is not an opinion, it is fact this game is total shit. Read my vet review on page two of the forums. My server Eclipse is RUINED. It is a ghost town and I pity the current players. They deserve a better game.
The game will generally apeal more now to people:
- who never got Jedi
- who never had more than one character on server
- who like running fed-ex quests (yes, plenty of people love that)
- who had hard time coping with item/money relation
- who didn't partake in GCW through player generated content
- who belive SWG should be KOTOR
- who consider MMOs to revolve around kill/loot paradigm
It will generally not apeal to people:
- who had Jedi/alt/multiple accounts
- who formed communities, either through guilds, faction tension, side activities (resource gathering, exploration, role-playing)
- who based their identity on 2+ year achievements
- who covered the base + 2 expansion content
- who had fully developed/equiped characters
- who wish to play as they used to (taking missions to grind, having twinked specialed character, having several characters to improve self-reliance)
- who experienced something more in community than just ocasional LFG filler
There's exceptions, but this would be my general rule based on people I know that either left or still play. Your milage may vary.

The game is a lot better than when you left, but if you quit in disgust then I'd suggest it's still not ready for you to come back, especially if you were all full template Jedi because you loved having an alpha class in combat.

Try either the Start Up free trial or the Vet return free trial. Once you have experienced the NGE for yourself, come back and let us know what you think either way.

We left SWG in the same uproar most did when NGE first hit. We were disgusted by the new system, the way it got dropped on us, and the fact that all of our work toward jedit was rewarded with a crappy robe and that blue ghost crap. Then add things like the death of our ADK's etc..
I must admit most of us were still a little bitter about CU, but we adjusted, even though we all felt pre-cu was superior in almost every way. I'm gonna fire up a vet trial account and see what shakes out on good old Ahazi.
