First, You'll need to speak fluently in both English & Japenese. The GM job signup page is on the JP version of the POL website.

Google has a slew of them. You can learn via tape, webcam, interactive chat, computer games, or hire a tutor.

Edit: Also, start typing like you know English. >;P

I belive his point was to be more professional. If you're sending anything online to an employer and you're using Slang, abbreviated, 1337 speak. You're not going to get the job.

Now, I know you're going to make some Smart ass come back, But before you do think "Why whould SE make somone a GM with a fuse shorter than a Japenese Firework?"

The Rosetta stones computer program series is meant to be a great learning tool.

However, they won't hire you unless you have qualifications to your name proving you can speak the langauge.

I was intersted in Games Programing when i was in secondry school. I found out that it's a really hard feild to get into, they won't hire you without experience, and the market is saturated the last time i checked. Too many programmers, too few jobs. Kinda got to climb the ladder for a long while. It's why i didn't follow that path.

Unless you go into graphic design, but that's another department.

Not sure how you go about becoming a GM. I always thought they were re-assigned programmers etc.

Anyway, make sure you do plenty of research NOW into your career path. I have spoken to plenty of people who spent years in Uni and go into teaching or something not related to the degree beacuse of a dried up job market.

Just thought i would give you the heads up. Working with games is not the best job in the world, can be quite the opposite really.

i normally do not have a short fuse but i do know that if i were to send in and application to anyone, i would not abbreiviate things. as for not going into the gaming biz im pretty much determined. im not sure if anything can change that.

I'm sure he was just kidding. GMs do, however, have to speak in perfect sentences to their players.

Yeah, I'd agree that most careers involving video games on ones to be avoided. When looking around at what the jobs would be like if I followed that path in college, I quickly decided that my soul wasn't worth quite so much as I thought it was, and promptly declared law as my major.

The gaming industry isn't all fun and games. In fact, it's becoming more and more a part of the corporate world. Virtual property are becoming actual assets. Online gaming identity theft is more rampant than before. Currency is being sold left and right outside the games...

With gaming becoming so big and a part of mainstream society, the gaming business is becoming more and more like... business...

So yeah, I'm not trying to discourage you from working at a game company.

But take caution... and make sure you love what you do. Because if you enter the industry with playful expectations, you might face quite a fall.

Virtual reality is afterall only virtual... The real world will always be harsh.
