Ok. So I rated it a 9.3. You think it should be somewhere around a 5. The only point I want to make here is that "ratings" are all based on opinions and as long as they are based in opinion and personal tastes no rating will ever be right for everyone. There are too many variables that cause ratings to be this way.
The point I was making in the thread I linked above, and here, is that the score assigned wasn't inline with the scorers comments. See the other post for more detailed comment but saying the game's sound is no better and no worse than other games and then giving it an 8 does not jive. Nor does saying it is 'unfair' to charge a monthly fee for the game and then give it a 6 for value.
Certainly differant folks will rate things differant but the issue is the score of a review not matching, in any descernable way, with the comments of the scorer/reviewer.
I must have missunderstood the first time I read your intitial post. So I reread it and your right. To say many bad things about any game and still give it a decent rating does not make any sense.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
Dare I add my input at this point? Well, it's better than starting a new and identical topic to get my thoughts out...
The pattern I'm starting to see is that everyone is have ridiculously different and contrasting experiences with this game. I've found that grouping is easy, yet problems with grouping has caused many to give up a day into their trial. Some feel the game is pure hack and slash with minimal roleplay value, yet compared to other high-rated MMOs I've found it immersing in a casual way. With the built-in voice chat and dungeons it has the potential for great group roleplaying and tactics, but a friends casual look over my shoulder provided only, "It looks a lot like running around and bashing stuff."
Maybe time will level out (pardon the pun) this range of opinions, but until then it's probably right to say that if you're questioning it's quality you should wait before trusting reviews.
