I say FFXI. It may not be the best, but once you get into it, it's hard to get out. Especially because of its versatility, including the free class changing feature. Because you can change to any class at any time (except for the extra ones requiring quests), you never really feel like you complete the game. There's always more to do, more jobs to experience. So yeah... it's a long-lasting game.
But like I said, that's only if you get into the game. A lot of people play it for a few hours and despise it. So I think FFXI caters to a specific audience.
AC is the most addictive game of all time. Every single AC vet still thinks it is the best. Most of us AC vets cant find a new mmorpg because we have such high standards.
I would say that for those who like it Eve is potentially the most addicitive. Its hard to explain why exactly and I am not persoanally addicted to it, but if you get into it you can get in over your head.
RFO is addictive but for only a VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. it might not make much sense... but when you're hooked on it, you're hooked... and you find yourself playing for hours on end. after that, though, you find yourself kinda getting irritated at the grinding. but i suppose that's with any game. or maybe it's just me... i tend to do that a lot. get so hooked on a game... then finally burn out and get sick of it. but yeah, i must say RFO and i did have a good thing going for a while...
