Why I say this is that they are obviously going to put new level 70 epics and epic pvp sets. So to all the people who work their ass off for months and years for all these epics and legendary items they have now will be completely useless when the expansion comes out. My view on Burning Crusade is that it is made to attract new customers but not to satisfy old customers. One way to satisfy everyone is to have the level cap stay 60 or to scale up level 60 epics to 70.

Lol. I agree with you Bob.

Hmm. Well, I don't think it'll drive vets away from the game. It'll give them more content to play through and just because their gear isn't the best in the game, like it previously was, that won't mean they'll quit.
If they promoted up the current epics to be lvl 70 epics then there wouldn't be much new content for the current lvl 60s.
Most of the "vets" from release have either left, waiting for another game, or are in taut anticipation of the expansion. People who follow the game knew the level cap increase was going to happen long ago and that their current gear will become out dated because of it.
Those who wasted all of their DKP on bindings and such for a legendary will either quit or start reading the homepage more often. If they quit because they don't have one of the best toys in the game then it isn't going to be big loss for any guild. One less child to babysit.
WoW was nice to bring people into the World und MMORPGs.
BC will make WoW deeper and gives casual gamers, hardcore raiders, solo gamers and PvP freaks new content.
Some content will be redesigned like the pvp system and open pvp, the reputation system and so on.
It will be great and with BC WoW will be the best MMORPG
let me the logic here.. well there is none...
i prefer to get rid of my epics and tier items for new content.. jeez after so long of wearing the crap I want new stuff...
its like well getting a vehicle... and adding after market parts... do u get rid of the vehicle after investing time into it.. just cause it is not the same vehicle no.. u just keep pushing along making it better.... and usually shinier stuff attracts people...
i wanna make a game... a rpg game .. called shoot the forum trolls... allowingpeople to find forum trolls [usually deluded 13yr olds or smedly wanna be's] adding theiir traits to a pixeled character and using a bfg on it.. toyour hearts content.. something similair to the slap britney shockwave thing
"completely useless" is quite the big word.
Most probably they will give a pretty big edge in getting to level 70 faster than others. And an "edge" is what they have always been.
Personally, though, I'm more interested in the new PvP modes coming with it (or even before) and the new gameplay modes for level 40-70. Not to speak of Jewelcrafting
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
As for satisfying old customers, that issue has way too many angles to even bother with here. The game will still be raid or quit it seems to me.
Eh? Would you mind posting a few details about the new PvP modes or provide a link where I could read up about it....
Sounds interesting.

Why will they be completely useless? You think that the people who don't have the epics (greens) will be able to do Naxx? LOL
The oldies with the epics now, will move to naxx. simple.

I can tell WoW must be your first MMO considering you think nothing can beat it. Also I ask you have you played Guild Wars, City of Villains or City of Heros?
Now honestly I've only played Guild Wars and City of Heros out of the three games you mentioned, used to play WoW until I got to the aparent end game.
Now I don't know about you but grinding non-stop from start to the never-ending finish is not my kind of game, but then again it seems to be what MMORPGs are these days. Now if you have played Guild Wars the only reason that you could possibly have against it is that, There isn't enough level grinding, you may/may not say there is no RP but then again where is WoWs RP or COH or COV RP unless you count "Go here kill this get that" whereas Guild Wars immerses you with the main characters instead of you just getting a quest off them (MxO does this rather well aswell)
So in conclusion honestly if they changed the name of Runescape to Warcraft and WoW to Runescape 6 million people would start playing a Browser-Based game, because 99% of players are fanboys (I did not say 100% because otherwise you would say 'So and so isn't a fanboi RandomNameIJustMadeUp isn't a fanboy etc.)
I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self.

Quoting the related part:
"
GS: What do you have planned in terms of player versus player for the
expansion?
JK: We're building a PVP objective into every new Outland zone for
outdoor world PVP. They're different for each zone. Hellfire Peninsula actually
has three objectives that are very close to each other. Picture an outdoor
Arathi Basin that's always ongoing. We're going to have some other big
announcements that have to do with the PVP system, but that will be closer to
launch, so we're not ready to talk about that yet."
There you go.
"If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime"
In case you didnt know almost ever expansion to a MMORG adds better wpns, raises the level caps, aswell as other things... See almost ever major expansion that ever MMORPG dropped on a community....

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith
The item level trends and the comments by various devs and Tseric are enough to infer that BC will follow a similar paradigm to what is currently in place just with more 5-10 man instances, ie. more crappy gear. Naxx gear is about item level 90-100. Blue dugeon gear is about 65 at the best. They have given no indication they will change their itemization algorithms or budgets. Nothing from a 5-10 man dugneon will be better than Naxx stuff. You won't get any Naxx upgrades until you start the various raids in BC. Further raiders will be getting legendaries. So if you look at MC you can get level 75-80 epics. Well probably the first BS 70 raid will then give legendaries (extar item levels) that follow a similar trend. So that will be about level 95-105, which is right along the progression from naax.
So in the end we have:
Non-raider level 70 = lvl 75-80 gear.
Raider level 70 = lvl 120-140 gear.
Is there any logicaly reason for this? No. Raiders are just better and that is how it is. Clearly the gear progression could follow along the same lines or whatever. But raiding is superior. WoW is now a game for catasses. Sure it wasn't intended to be at around 2002 or so before people like Steig and Bill roper left, but with Kaplan and Pardo are in firm control now and it is for catasses.
It is a shame that many people can't seem accept this, but that is the way it is. I understand the design switch muddles alot of people. But the math of it is actual quite simple. The design implications of the lopsided and segregationist gear policies are also pretty obvious. There is no real point is saying what they want because its what they have done that is important. Really just do the math and its pretty clear. WoW = catass.
