So I just started playing the game today and since the tutorial section is lacking, are there any newbie guides you would recommend? Tried to look for one, but it seems finding stuff isn't my forte...
Edit: And with a guide I mean more like hints and how a new player should proceed. What should I focus on for now, where to find good quests etc.

Don't mind Rinic, his rheumatism must be acting up again. :-)
Allakhazam is never a bad choice to look for info. If you'll look back just one page on this forum you'll find a thread "Anyone mind helping me with basics?" on which I posted a few pointers for beginners.

And yes indeed. Never said it was WoW. Mean more like, which ones should I do? Ones that might reward you with starting gear or something. Surely there's a reason for their existence.

Hum. At the start, your main equipment upgrade will be to sell your loot on the Auction House and buy gear from the NPC vendors, whose prices on newbie-level equipment is quite good. Most of the quests you can get as you start off get you money. There are a few that get you some equipment, though. What city are you starting at, and what's your job? Note also that quests get you *fame* at that city. That gets important later on, as you need accumulated fame to access higher-level quests, and later quests give you important gear and abilities.

Damn, allakhazam is running awful tonight. Hey, I didn't know somepage had such a nice Quest section, so that's all good after all... In a Pickle will get you a Bone Hairpin (first time you do it, after that you get cash), but Bone Hairpins aren't very good. Curses, Foiled Again! gets you a Brass Rod, but that's a) level 12 b) also not very good c) not a weapon a RDM can use and d) a quest that's going to get a beginner killed (you can buy the quest objects at the Auction House, but that'll cost more than a Brass Rod is worth). Hat in Hand gets you a Windshear Hat which isn't too bad, and level 1 can do it. To Catch a Falling Star gets a Fish Scale Shield, which is in fact a pretty nice piece of equipment, but is level 14. Look into doing it when you get near that level, though. Finally, Truth, Justice, and the Onion Way! gets you a Justice Badge, is trivial to do, and the Badge is a *very* nice piece of low-level equipment. This is the one you need to do. And that's about it for getting equipment from Windurst quests with no fame earned yet.

Now, while we're on the subject of giving me hot tips. What's with every other player I come across "examining" my character?
When you use the "check" command on another player to see his equipment and job/level (job/level is hidden if he's on /anon), that player gets a message "Dandy230 examines you."

I'm just saying that because quests in WoW give exp, as opposed to FFXI where they dont.
I then offer them some help on where to buy cheap equipment, spells and things like that If i have the feeling he needs a mentor.
