Comments
The reason I quit is the low level game appears all but dead. High level game, I hear, is hopping. But low level? Prepare to solo to 50.

If english is a second language for you reply:
I don't understand really why you don't like it after reading that.
If english is not a second language for you reply:
Holy crap man go read a book why don't you.
That has to be the longest run-on sentence I have EVER seen.
With all the misspelled words and grammer problems, all I can understand is the fact that you hate Mythic.
As for great people leaving DAoC? I'm one of the best and have no intentions of leaving DAoC whatsoever! /grin

Beta'd: There, Second Life, EQ2, DAOC:LotM, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, Gods and Heroes, Hellgate: London, Requiem:Bloodymare, AoC, WAR, DDO, Fallen Earth
But why do people leave?
Because they find something new that they like as much or better. It's just that simple. All games eventually fade. DAOC is taking longer than most. That should indicate that the game is very high quality indeed.
But your entire premise is bunk... yes great players have left over time... but other than TOA it's not really because of any problem with Mythic for the most part.

people quit for many reasons. Some, for other games, but I think that people tend to quit an mmo fall into 2 big categories:
1. Those that treat mmo's like Fads. They jump on the latest and greatest new game because it is popular. Or they are simply trying to find a better game. Most of the time these players do not find a better game, and they move to yet a 3rd game and so on.
2. Those that really like the game, but life gets in the way. DAOC is almost 5 years old. So, if you started playing at 20 in college, you are now 25 years old. You probably have a job. You probably are married. You might have made a mistake like having children. All of these things take away game time. Then, one day looking at the game, you simply realize you do not play that much. The people you knew have moved on. You would be better off not spening your money on a monthly fee and simply playing another game now and then when you get the chance.
That is why it is important to be successful in this market over a large period of time, to constantly attract a new player base to make up for those that have left, and those that are not as active as before. But, with new games coming out, and this being a new industry, most companies fail to do this. I think solid companies with new games coming out say after 2007 will do much better at this. So I think WAR will suffer far fewer problems of keeping a large and active player base that with DAOC.
I have Girl friend she get pissed for me for playing it why i quit i started at 11 was better then got 13 got good got 16 and ruled for awile and now game seem pointless to me and friends have quit and play baseball so game get retarded
The game draws people back and thats its power. Yes i try all new mmos but after a while im right back in daoc. Its like the family house you can move away but you always go back home eventually.

Maybe if you are able to accept these disadvantages you can enjoy another part of the game. Myself I am wondering why I spent 3 months with this piece of crap when it was released ... just my opinion.
The interface is cluttered? As compared to what? After playing SWG when it first came out, I found myself back in DAoC and found the interface extremely clean, and refreshing.
On my second 'trip' to DAoC land, I could see the low levels dieing off, there simply wasnt any groups hunting or hardly anyone to get involved with. When I first started playing DAoC years ago, you had to fight for a place to hunt.
Sad to hear that the lower levels never resurged themselves back to what they were.

The reason I quit is because the pve is lame, and rvr is even lamer. Does RvR even exist anymore? All I see are 8 mans steamrolling everything in their path with 6 casters.

Which is why there are 10-11,500 players online when there used to be 45k+. Wake up.
Lag casting, window dragging. It got to the point where playing was not fun anymore. Week after I quit, they laid down the ban stick on Radar. A bit too late for me.
I've got my eye on Warhammer. Just hope they can make a level playing field.
Dont get me wrong, there is no doubt that Im ready to move on to a superior replacement to DAOC but right now there is none. Whats worse is that its looking like there is no heir apparent to DAOC in the forseeable future.
I dont play anywhere near as activly as before but theres still plenty to do.

I quit because after 4 level 50's it got boring, RvR was horrid trying to find a good group. I played an animist for keep defense when I couldn't find a roaming group. I played a Vampiir to farm with (no point in finding an RvR group with him). Made a Bard just for grouping and twisting songs (fun). Lastly made a ranger just to solo RvR and pin cushion warlocks.
Grinding the Task Dungeons got boring, then spending all day in RvR on pointless raids or bridge camping just got old also.
As for finding another game, there's really not another good mmo out right now, WoW is lame at 60. About the only game that is holding my interest right now is EQ2 only because of the solo content. I'm just holding off until Conan comes out
People in there 30's and 40's are some of the oldest veterens to mmorpgs, people 30+ play for the same reasons others play... it's a hobby and it's fun.
I've been playing mmorpgs since 1997, not including MuDs, and I'm about to turn 34, so going on 10 years straight plus work a fulltime job, and have played just about every mmorpg released in the U.S. with capped toons in each, along with a couple dozen Korean mmo's.
Get a life? heh I have one and it's good, how about you get a clue.
I'll mmo till the day I die!
LOL, if your parents didn't pay for your subscription you wouldn't even be in the game.
MMORPG's are designed by adults, for adults, and you young man, need to spend more time in school working on your grammer!

I guess I'm one of those gamers always looking for the "perfect" MMORPG. What that means for me is one that allows all players who devote a reasonable amount of time to the game a chance to be competitive in the larger PvP world. Unfortunately, almost all games overly reward those who have large amounts of free time to devote to them.
So my search has taken me from my first game, Lineage 1 to DAOC to Shadowbane back to DAOC to COH to Lin 2 to WOW to GW to COV to WOW and now, while waiting for BC to come out... back to DAOC for an encore.
I originally left DAOC because TOA threw me into a horrific grind to get skills and items to keep me competitive in RvR combat. In the end I landed in WOW...which currently is a personification of what I despise most....so I'm not sure BC is going to really solve that for me.
So, having a few months (at least) to kill, I reactivated my accounts, updated all my software and began playing last week. Decided to play on the Classic server (Gareth) and have had no problems finding people to play with and was surprised to find myself in a very active Thidranki fight (lvl 21-25) last evening. Our side had 40 ppl and the two other factions seemed equally well represented.
So, should be interesting to level up and play through the various RvR BG's and finally hit the upper end frontier zones one more time. At least hold me over until some new game comes out that I can jump over to.

A lot of the reason why people quit is the changes that are being made. Groups are no longer repersented to the developers becouse Team Lead posistions have been removed. RolePlay, Housing has taken a back burner oh wait a sec that was pretty much thrown out since the Team lead posistions were removed.
I still have an active account on Darkage (for my kids mainly). I go into game and about the only thing left to do is grind. There is no community anymore on Perc/Alb and it is imposible to find a group to level with while several will "offer to PL you if you PL them first". It just no longer holds intrest for me.
Bug reports are not being fixed in a timely manner which has a lot to do with developers that were asigned to the DAOC project have been pulled to work Warhammer and UO2. Since these reports (master level bugs and RVR bugs and exploits) are not being fixed and have been brought up numorous times older players feel it is time to move on.
I have been on Perc since about 2002 and have seen alot of changes to the player base. A lot of good friends left the game a few returned after visiting with other games.
