Looking for a new MMORPG to play

Hey all.

As the topic states, I'm looking for something new. I got bored of WoW's end-game and re-creating new chars. I played Guild Wars for a small while, but its way too linear, so much that it totally restricts you to roads, plus the fact that the entire world apart from towns are instances, therefore difficult meeting people.

I love Role-Playing and don't mind a little PVP. I played Ultima Online for 3 years and never got bored, was deffinately the best MMO ever created IMO.

I tried Eve-Online, a great game but not quite what I'm looking for.

If anyone could suggest something that I might find pretty good, ( something near UO would be awesome ) I would appreciate it, because right now I'm just bored :-)

Thanks!

If you wanna try something really different from traditional MMOs, look into FFXI. it's got a different style of play, but requires a lot of patience...

RFO is a new one, but has an interesting concept.

Lineage II also requires a lot of patience, but does end up being fun at higher levels.

I've really heard mostly good things about City of Heroes from friends, but i've personally never played... but that also has an interesting concept.

Hero Online is also a new one still in beta. you should look at that if you've got even a slight interest in martial arts. the style is a lot like Lineage and RFO.

Star Wars Galaxies is also a good one if you like a mostly player-run game/community. but you might have to bear with a lot of updates and changes.

    Mmhm...

If you loved UO... you obviously don't mind the old graphics too much. You love a deep, rich game.

Ever played Asheron's Call much? Just as deep as UO, 3D graphics (even though dated)

Thanks all for your recommendations, some interesting MMO's to look in to.

As one of you said, its true that I don't care for graphics, it just has to be fun to play.

Many of the older games such as "Asheron's Call" seem to lack players, and are left with farmers etc which is a pitty.

I have Saga of Ryzom downloading right now, looks like its very well worth a free trial!

A few games that have cought my eye right now are: Age of Conan, Roma Victor and Gods and Hero's. It's also a pitty that Darkfall has been delayed for such a long time.

I thought I'd update: I have begun my trial on The Saga of Ryzom, and I have to admit it seems pretty awesome so far. This game is exactly what I was looking for. If you are a lover of UO, you will most likely enjoy this game as much as I am right now.

    :-)
