Logged into the site in IE6 with the site on my trusted list. When i click the "play horizons" button to load the game from the site it just crashes IE.
Deleted the activeX patcher and downloaded again. I'm not having any activeX issues. I have both .Net 1.1 and 2 installed.
I'm getting pretty tired looking for solutions. Is there some way to get the game loaded without going through the site?

Try Firefox?
I've not had this problem with Horizons, but I've have the service pack 2 do this to me creative labs and other sites.
Make sure you have .net 1.1 or 2.0 installed (the launcher will prompt you).
And make sure you have SP2 installed.
Barring that, contact support@istaria.com and email me at ophelea@tulgagames.com to let me know you have so I can track it.
Thanks Ophelea. I sent an email.
I can't really give you much information because theres not much to tell. It just freezes when I click the button.

brostyn: how far in the loading process do you get? What do you see?
I click the play button and nothing happens (it freezes).
It is as though it is stuck in an infinite loop.

brostyn: what sound card are you using? This sounds like an issue related to some recent changes in the sound handling code, which has problems with a few cards.
Here are my important specs,
MSI nForce 4 Motherboard (in built 5.1 sound)
MSI Nvidia 6800
AMD 64 4000+
Windows XP pro
I'm not seeing any patcher come up. All I see is IE not doing anything when I click "Play Horizons".

Huzza! Something other then a frozen IE! You win the brownie points of the week, since even the horizons support didn't ask me to try this.
Its updating now I think so if I don't respond after this post then either consider the problem fixed or that horizons patch program has made my computer explode in my face.

Uhh...he is Horizons support.
*grins*
I sent him to help.
In that case you can forget brownie points and offer a raise!
Kinda weird that my IE crashes with the .net patcher ticked. Anyway thanks for fixing my problems and giving me the free 2 month account!

Fly! Ok, that might take more than 2 months so make a gnome and waddle!
You waddle if you eat too many gnomes as well...

Oh, btw, I can load EQ2 in about 30 seconds flat and load EQ1 with its zillion expansions in about 2 minutes at most.
