graphics update for those not on trial

hello m8s, ive searched for an existing thread that answered this problem but couldnt find it. their is a sticky about how to upgrade trial versions, but ive got the original daoc game, which sells for $10 with no addons. ive searched the daoc site too, but its all a bit confusing really. how do i get this version of the game updated to the new graphics? since si and toa are free now, do i install those two first and then worry about the graphics update patch, or do i simply download the trial version of the game which has the updated graphics engine, login with the account i got from the box, and start playing? is the trial version of the game the complete version?
im a bit stumped really. id appreciate some help since ive been trying to figure this out for a while now. i couldnt find anything in the sticky, it all had to do with the trial version, whereas i have the original game box, which is by now pretty out dated.
help would be appreciated.

    At one time, they used to have the first expansion available for download for free.  Some people did not upgrade, or like you bought the original disks, and would need this expansion in order to play.  However, it does not look like they offer that anymore.  So you will need to do the trial thing.  Here is one way to do what you want:

    1.  Follow the trial process including how to update your graphics.

    2.  When it CD code, use the one that came with the box you purchased.

    3.  If the code from the box does not work, you have one of two options:  either suck up the $10 you spent and just get the 14 days free, or call their support number you have with the box and tell them the situation.  They will ask you for your account info.  Then they can turn it on for you and give you 30 days for free.

    To download the game, log in (don't select a character to quick login) and click on account info. Then click on view expansions. You only need to download and activate catacombs and darkness rising to be able to have access to everything in the game. The original, SI and ToA expansions are free as of last year.
