A new MMORPG

Is there any game in beta-state... or at least being Developed at the moment that involves some innovation?
No more point&click combat would be a start, but although SWG (pre-cu) was point & click.. it was pure fun either... So what do you guys think? Found a good SWG replacement yet or waiting hopefully for one?
Found an innovative game yet?.. Tell me your ideas please ;)

No, everyone is making the same old crap with click-and-watch or point-and-click combat.  RYL is the only one I know of with realistic, first-person style combat, unless you count paintball in There.

I really do not understand why MMORPG makers stick with an outdated mode of combat leftover from the 90's.  Okay, I know, it's easier, but what a lame excuse that is.

Guild Wars is a prime example--they have first-person character control...until you start combat, then it's lame click-and-watch.

And it looks like everything in development is just as lame, but if you find something that isn't, please let me know.

COME ON, GAME DEVELOPERS, GET REAL!!! Or at least, more real, lol

    FPS in MMORPG'? No thanks.

its the same with offline RPG's. developers now suddenly want to get rid of the turn based system and want to make games like final fantasy and other RPG's have real time battles. does it take more skill? yeah.

is it more fun? HELL NO.

With another combat system i didn't mean fps viewed fighting à la
oblivion, although that's a great idea, i don't see it happening
anytime soon ;)... What i do like is the way you develop skills in
Gothic, you start with almost not being able to fight with a sword,
holding it strangely with 2 hands... And at Master Level you use it like a
true master... This would be a fresh start without point&click...
It would be.. Hack'n Slash... ;)

And the FPS-haters won't be whining either --> So why aren't they choosing this system?

Probably because most people like the auto-attack skill usage system,
or because there aren't alot of mmorpgs with nice graphics AND an
innovative combat system out there (read- non)

Well tell me your ideas people.. How would you make the combat system work? ;)

Roma Victor is a start, but not everyone likes the Roman Culture, or
the less than average graphics... (I give in, i'm quite the
    graphicwhore :( )

i love turn base fighting but its easyer to click and watch and i can have a soda wile i do it because of auto attacking wile in turn based i would have to put my soda down to attack.

i like how all the final fantasys were turn based i have every single one made besides 3 for the ps1

If you haven't tried anything but turned based or click-and-watch, you really should try RYL to see what first-person style combat can be like, or you can watch some of the videos at

if you're doing point and click in GW you're doing something massivly wrong, such as not equiping skills.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

Its only click and watch of you dont know what you're doing... which it seems you dont.  Learn how to play a game before you comment on it.

Age of Conan might come out this year.  I've been reading up on it for the last week or so, and it looks like the combat will be intense and involved, but with a good mix of fast and slow pacing.
