Good memories

I played PS a couple of years ago, and I have good memories from that time. I had some bad experiences with BFRs, but I managed, and I had a good time when it was all said and done. Now I find myself tempted to give this game another try, but I have to wonder...

Why would I play this?

Why would I play PS instead of, say, BF2, Half-Life 2, or any other slew of first-person shooters that offer decent online service? This isn't intended to be a flame, I'd honestly like to get some feedback. What makes you come back to PS, and what makes you subscribe when you know you have so many cheaper alternatives out there?

I like the leveling aspect but after lvl6 (of25) you have to pay to level up anymore. Plus those medals you can put on your arm are so darn cool. Plus the battles are usually on a bigger scale.

Why I play it:  (Reserves, I no longer subscribe)
    1. It's FREE.  I don't pay a dime... you don't even have to buy the game you can download it free.  If you want to advance past BR6 (no need really) you have to subscribe though.
    2. I find it a ton more fun than BF2, Half Life or any other FPS.  I love them but frankly they are only really 'fun' for me in single player mode.  I don't enjoy their online play near as much as I do PlanetSide.  Mostly because the scale of the battles in those titles is so much smaller than in PlanetSide.
    3. Did I mention it's FREE? :)

Yahr the bigger battles are fun. Also its three-sided and sci-fi, in my opinion it makes a difference.

Don't worry I'm not paying either. If it was a couple bucks a month I might spring for it, but I'm not forking 12 bucks over to Sony to have access to the server and little else.

Agreed... if they made it like $6.95 a month I'd pay for it.  But not $12.95... that's nuts.
