Best server for Roleplaying is Starsider.  Best server for the biggest populations is Bria.

You should really do the free trial first before paying the $15 just in case.  That goes for every game that has one.

SOE knows what you like... You don't!

I would suggest you will get more information on the SOE boards. You may even want to post a few questions in the various server forums. If you are returning, the NGE is still a brutal reality - little change. If you are a NooB, then you will never know how great the game was. Good Luck.

Wow, someone wants to play SWG because they are bored, is it even possible to be THAT bored

Joking aside, you may like it, guess it all depends on why you stopped playing in the first place and how long you have been away from the game.

When Sony and Lucas set out to create the NGE, we said, “How can we do this and make it similar to WoW?” We wanted it to be all about Iconic characters like Luke, combat and locking our players into a class. So we created a system that would restrict players and make all professions the same and there would be minimal gameplay around making that change. We definitely borrowed a lot of ideas from WoW that worked and figured out how to make them fit for SWG – Julio Torres (2005)

Lol riiiigghhhht, it being the server that used to crash based on population load lol.

I miss those days, man do I.

(It did suck ass around patch 6 when I unlocked though)   Server crash meant death for me as Jedi in most cases... and a lost of life to work off from decay in perma-death/skill loss days.

lol--  Needless to say "Fatiskareot" may you rest in peace for the hour you lived...muahhaha...  It was fun running around after unlocking then.. so you could make another toon and really start the grind.

Why would anyone flame the OP?  What most people don't understand is most ex SWG vets don't hate current players.  We don't understand why they play, but that isn't hatred.

Regarding his question.  I think most servers are pretty much at the same populations.

A lot of vets, like myself, don't like it when people give SOE money. Some people don't like it because they think that we'll never get pre-cu servers if people keeping paying for these ones. Personally, that doesn't bother me. I just want to see them lose money.

If you're bored, this isn't the game for you. If you ever get the urge to be angry and a little depressed, I'd give it a go.

Im not new to MMO's and IM deffinately not new to Sony games and I dont really wanna become buddy buddy with anyone inthe game i'll be mostly soloing and just playing when im not on Eq2, but its still nice to be on a server where you can see people run by once in awhile.  No one wants to play on a deserted server even soloers.

Prepare yourself for suicidal thoughts. You will be wasting time. What do you intend to do for fun in the game? Level a jedi to 90? Everyone on the server is a level 90 jedi or medic. Will you fight creatures? The creatures don't fight back, they just stand there, they don't even agro. This game is such $hit, that I have zero tolerance for anyone that plays it. If you intend to pay $OE to play this hellish nightmare you are decidedly a moron.

If you're a total RPer, you might want to check out Project Uncle Owen.  They're starting a little RP commune up real soon.  Not sure, but I think their target is Lowca.

Otherwise, it's all about Starsider for RP and Bria for general population (though even Brians will tell you their community's crap).

i read up about project owen and it sounds actually pretty kool but I think they are taking it to far, I dont wanna pay for a game so that i can become a chef, or a garbage man lol, but really how much free reign do people have with there character made towns?  or is all the stuff they talk about mayor, (they also ok'ed house thiefs?) just crap they are creatively making up?

This crap you mention IS roleplaying. And it is made up creatively, but in a reasonably crafted fashion. The basis of roleplaying is establishing the context, and in this partucular case detailed backstory and community.

Maybe you had something else in mind, bu these are dedicated RP communities.

Thats actually the perfect attitude to have if your going to endure this mess.  Good luck with it, let us know what you think.  In addition to what Obraik said, ive heard shadowfire is now a decent server but its just hearsay.

I have no problem with that kind of roleplaying if people find that fun than thats kool, but they dont want people to do alot of things outside of teh town ie adventure exping to me roleplaying is playing teh game to its full extent while roleplaying not just playing a Real Life Sim, otherwise i would play Sims Online
