While orphus/l2blah community mainly exists for in-game drama, screenshots and videos, there is a really nice community what's providing stories, guides, faqs.. that help new players, all players, with technical or gameplay problems.

HOW can be L2's community so bad ? Can't understand, really..

You have to sacrifice your life to that game, if you wanna become level 75 twice in order to become a hero. That means, it´s impossible for normal people with normal lifes to participate at the highend content. This is also the reason, why people buy highlevel toons leveled by professional level services or ingame money on ebay.
If you play completley along the rules, no botting, cheating, ebaying etc, it will take round about a year of playing everyday for ca. 6 hours to reach level 70 once.
Considering all this drops the fun factor down to zero.

If it takes you a year to reach 70+ playing 6 hours a day then the problem is not with the game. Thats a player error. Trust me it doesn't even take close to a year to reach 70 and its not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. Yes the grind sucks, but people exagerate it way to much such as the case here.

Well, I played this game from the very first day and I guess I can say I know almost everything about it, especially because I was far from a nobody on my server and so one thing is for sure:
If you are new to this game and you play the legal way like I mentioned above and if you got a life it takes round about a year. If you are a very experienced  old school player with  a mighty ally supporting you, of  course,  then you can make it in half of the time.  But this only works for hardcore  pro gamers. It´s common sense and everybody who played this game for years will agree, that it got the worst grind ever.

That's not right.

High-lvl content is not only "hero status" or "subclass".

High lvl content of the game is PVP. All this game is around PVP, and you can enjoy good pvp actions aso just at lvl 60+, which u'll reach in around 2 mounths of normal playing and haveing nice friends.

lvl 75, subclass, hero and so on, are content for very hardcore players.

You can reach them also by playing normal, day per day, slowly.. but you CAN reach those thing, if you want. That's not impossibile, and you haven't to  sacrifice all your time. Just find some friends and enjoy the game. The rest will come automatically.

Grind in this game have a purpouse. To fight an pvp.

I prefear to grind and pvp rather than grind for getting "the uber equip" and running around saying: HEY, ALL, SEE MY UBER EQUIP GNE GNE GNE?!!?!

Who cares how bad the grind is. Some people like it, some don't.

The one huge thing that bothers me about this artical - Community, 4? I would like you to rethink this. From my understanding, the ONLY way this number was assigned, would be if you hung out in Dion at lvl 25 for a month, and never asked anyone outside that area what they thought of the community.

(Edit: Sorry, just looked again and saw that you had some higher chars. I still dont agree though lol, on Gustin atleast)

I can promise you that anyone playing the game for a few months, who hangs out on the official forums, and who plays with clan-mates daily, will give it a 10. Most are very helpful, and pretty smart when it comes to the game (becuase you have to be to succeed). You also didnt touch on the fact that this game is attractive to an "older" style of gamer. I'm in an alliance of 300 and I am one of the youngest members, being in my early 20's. You dont find as many of the 13 year old WoW casual players in this game then others.

This was one of the more accurate reviews i have seen of any game.I still see some players who have high levels players defending any critisicm of this game, that however means your non objective and your say so means very little, nor can be taken with any accuracy.

I will admit i enjoy the fact that the chatting is non exhistant in this game ,because in wow it is very immature and childish. All i see in wow is ZOMG this and roflmaowtf ownzorr that. However the community is very quiet and weak in L2.You can't go off defending it because you happen to know of an area where peeps hang out more ,that makes the game very shallow.Sure there is maybe more bots in WOW ,however i rerally don't notice them at all.In L2 they are unbelievably noticeable, and i am very dissapointed at the lack of effort to clean them out of the game by the apparent lazy GM's.You do NOT need any reports to spot these bots and boot them out,yet even after tons of reports ,they are still there 24/7 in the exact same spots everyday.[90% of the bots are dwarfs]

I still see the usual BS ,how peeps going off about not needing bot farmer money because they are rich on there own.Well my friend you are NOT rich if another player buying Botted adena isnt buying from you.

Defending grind is no biggie i seee peeps defending it all the time. The grind isn't no worse than a few other games i have played really. The problem i have is that ,in a PVP game that relies on level and ahemm[cheated +16 items]the grind favours ONLY a player that has put in more hours. This in no way is a satifying system knowing that you can PK someone just because you put in more hours or spend ,more money on accounts to aid yourself with healing bots...pffft very UN harcore if you ask me.Hardcore is if you have to outdo the other player with very even standards[or you are inferior].Un even standards pfft my goldfish could operate under those playing conditions, you shouldn't even dare to mention the word hardcore, because it's anything but.

I know the unreal engine inside and out,so i can say that there is ALOT of the graphical work and mapping that was very lazy.Things like making ramps with stairlike textures ,because they were too lazy to figure out the size of each stair to make it fit.Strafing?it is deffinately possible in the unreal engine. You get a distinct look with the upper and lower gear but thats about it.You get stuck alot whenever you come near anything.

Another part that has ALWAYS bothered me is seeing a player bragging about his community when there in a guild/alliance of 300 lmao.Do you even know half the players in your guild?aliiance ?Have you even partied with half the players in your guild?alliance? When you raid do you even know what half the players are doing in a fight?I doubt it very much because i have been in guilds of only 80 and the leader of the guilds don't even know half the players. You can play with the same clanmates everyday, but how is that a community based game or setup?Myself i prefer to meet and hangout with all sorts of different players.I don't take the childish approach to gaming of OUR GUILD/ clan is stronger than yours..pfft.That is why i never liked PVP,it alienates 99% of the server from each other. It becomes a more childish battle of bragging rights.I for one never play a game to brag,or brag on behalf of my guild.I guess everyone has there own idea of what they NEED out of a game.

Lag was touched on a bit.I find the lag very bad every like 20 secs or so.The pings really have me baffled.I can ping better on a euro server than any other server and i live in canada. So where the heck are these other servers located ?I totally freeze up for about 2-3 seconds every so often. From my past experience with the unreal games,i think its more a bad game lag from bad zoning, rather than server side lag.

Anyhow i can say for once ,i was shaking my head in accordance to a pretty accurate review.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

silent-jones is 100% correct.  And I'll add that lineageII is nothing but a bunch of ebayers, and I'm not talking about someone who buys $20 or $30 dollars worth of game currency.  I'm talking about zealots who max out credit cards at IGE.  Log into the game and go to the derby track and look for the character standing there in noob gear. Just stand there awhile and watch all the ubber gamers run up to the IGE rep to trade. Then go off and lie and act like a big business man who makes hundreds of millions trading on the price margin; only problem is, they are grinding for hours on end and spend very little time buying and selling.

Then ironically, some of the players   (and no one here need and take this personally; I formed this opinion some time ago while reading official L2 forums and some others sites)   who somehow have time to scan message boards, will post big novels about how they are straight up, fair and square earn everything grinders.  Then on another thread they'll talk about how ubber they are, posting screen shots of over enchanted weapons and $300 USD sets of armor.  They have alll of that mastercarded gear and they spend half of their computer time on message boards.  It's sickening, because this game is nothing but a damn racket, and they are sycophantic enough to support it.

The game doesn't even deserve a rating of 4 on community, because it's full of hypocrites who ebay and lie about it.  I'm a mid level lineageII player who is broke and sick and tired of seeing swarms of bots and home-equity-loan-size ebayers.  The game deserves to die; I'm moving on to something else.  Say good riddance and I'll let you have the last word.

The Cons were spot on for me. I agreed with him completely. The community is the worst I've ever seen in an MMO. So many racist, rude little children. I couldn't get past it...I only managed to get to lvl 24 before quitting in disgust.

On a side note, the economy is also completely FUBAR.

L2, worst major MMO ever IMO.

There is 1=ONE think i can say about Lineage2: It sux!!!...
I played Lineage 2 since Opened beta, had 2-3 breakes but with every chronicle released i came back. The highest character i have is a Shielen Knight lvl 72, witch is not easy to make.
The real problem is Lineage 2 is the unbalance between characters classes. In this way a mage class will kick ass of any other classes (ofc there will come some smart guys who will argue this but they play for sure a mage and sometimes they get kicked once a few days...but anyway),and now comes the most unbalanced class: Necromancer..yes my friends this character ruined Lineage 2. All i can say is that on the server i played were like 80% necromancers and its no joke. Necromancer its a summoner class but has a mage power so necromancer will kick any mage ass. Now comes the conclusion:every body started to reroll on a Necromancer class or started their subclass on necromancer path. Everywhere you look on the server there are necromancers....For you guys to have an ideea a necomancer or a mage could kill me in less than 4-5 seconds, in this time i couldnt even get near them to hit once. Well all ppl went for this class since this is a pvp game and everybody wants to pwn...why the hell should play other classes like my SK who should be a tank but dies from any other classes hehe (well not almost all.
Also in Lineage 2 is a Mafia like in real life: you all would ask now what the hell i mean...ill tell ya
All farmers are assians, 99% of farmers are boots and 1% are ppl who watch these boots. If you wana hunt on a good spot you cant because of farmers, argue with them and always win nothing because if they die, noone cares since they do not play for experiance, PK them you turn red=good profit for them if they kill ya, report to a GM by petition, GM will answere the next day and thank me for my concern, they will take care of my issue but like always nothing happens. On the other side if i use a boot program, i get banned in 1-2 month...i think if you buy the boot program with fee
pay/month you dont get banned but who knows...i booted my buffers with payed boot program and worked well.
The comunity its realy nice if you get into 1 nice clan, so you can go on good hunting spots, make good connection with you clanmates and so on...but there will always be 1 moron who ebayed tons of adena, powereleveled his character, dressed Armani equivalent on our world and shows up from nowhere kill ya if you are in war with him or PK anyway and tell me how noob i am...noob because i didint had his lvl and the equivalent of his items for my class...
Ofc i have many others to say but it is no worth...now i am w8ing for other MMORPGs releases like SUN, Huxley, Fury, LotR,Archlord and so on.
For the moment i think ill try Saga of Ryzom, it seems a realy decent game so i tihnk it worth a try.
Laters and gl all.

offer ....

The community can be nice IF you find a nice person or group of people.
The game is graphically oke but lacks diversity.
Grind is bad tho I grind for materials these days nevermind the "content of seiging castles, subclassing being a noble or hero"
PvP is possible and ofcourse PKing does take place.

My view: the high rating is very overrated.
Been around since first release and I have seen the game degrade over time even while additional chronicles were implemented. Not something I wish to write here but I allso see no reason to be a fanboy/girl and ignore the bad sides of this game.

While review can paint pretty pictures the real review is found by looking at financial news about NCsoft and announcements on the offical forums (if you read between the lines)

Now people will claim they like the game for PvP.. I can only asume they have to much time on their hands to be able to, have a mastersdegree in economics and market-manipulation or are just plain eBayers.
As I wrote before I am grinding for materials rather then spending time doing the PvP/PKing part of the game. The one and only reason I stay clear of this aspect is that I would literly waste time and hardneeded cash (adena) if I did. Drop/spoils are way to low for any starting or legit players to gather their gear AND PvP without lacking sleep.

This game allso lacks any real bot-control like many already metioned. Fact is that even now that anti-bot crontrol may become even less prominent as the company fired 70 people of the orginal 300 staffmembers.

But who I am I to judge this game....
I play it so I have a place to mellow out on repeatable actions like humming a mantra. When a better MMORPG comes along I am gone in a second for my love for this game is zero.

I agree with everything in the review. However, I must admit reading the community review while seeing all the "Your Virtual Seller" ads all over the place here made me chuckle a bit. You knock games for being full of farmers and people buying money online, then you let the same people advertise all over your site.

I agree it should lose points for community, but if your own reviewers understand the damage these services cause to games... Perhaps you should rethink your advertising system.

A side note, I personally think roleplaying and community scores should not be included in the reviews. These aspects are extremely subjective. I'd say as much an opinion as one's favorite color.
