In a thread over there it seems as if Serpico announced in IRC that they decided to do a rollback because of the exploited weapons. Put on a fresh batch of popcorn and grab a cold six pack of your favorite beverage.
Seriously I have to applaud them for doing the right thing, although this will piss off a number of people it was the correct response and took some balls. Now let's see if they actually follow through or was this just more talk.

Greetings,
After a thorough study of the situation, we decided not to perform a rollback. We do not want to penalize players who did not take advantage of the exploit.
The question of the exploiters themselves will be addressed soon for the betterment of all players.
We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered.
Best regards,
The NP3 Team"
Maybe I have misunderstood the real meaning of "not to perform a rollback" or maybe Serpico has more recent news or maybe they have changed their mind in 6 hours or maybe no one on AD/NP3 has a clue of what to do.
I still picture a bunch of college drop outs, sitting around in someones basement, smoking a bong...

The last days have been quite agitated , due to the problems linked to the craft bug exploit. We are aware of the problems that this exploit has caused and according to the massive reaction of the community about this, we?ve decided to revise our decision.
Therefore we're going to perform a « server rollback », to begin with, going back to Friday 23rd of June status, before the patch. As we are aware that it may penalise the players which haven?t use this exploit too, we decide to compensate this loss by giving a bag and the access to the map of one neutral kingdom (Ysatis for the Lights, Agnar for the Darks) for all players.
Moreover players who were connected during this period will receive during the week an additional bag containing a surprise - a unique item - to compensate the time lost in the game.
Those among crafters who have bought some recipes that are above your current level and added them in your recipe book after Friday?s patch, you will find these recipes back in your bag until you reach the appropriate level.
On a final note, we would like to add that using such exploits is considered as cheating. An ingame charter will be published quickly to set the same rules for all with some sanctions for those that do not respect them ? same goes for any other exploits or breach of rules.
Best regards,
The Dark and Light team.
There's a LOT of bugs in the near future(even the biggest fanboi could not think otherwise).
Big,bad, gamebreaking bugs.....is this gonna be the solution?
Well,looks like it due to:
a) They dont know what QA team means
b) They cant afford loosing players.
c) They are afraid of a server-fix(one where the only the ones that used that weapons gets to the FXP of 23th) because it could introduce more bugs and people will scream angry:"Lie!! I didnt cheat"
So in a proffesional mmorpg(those made by proffesionals) the solution is obvious: BAN.The SOE EULA(the one that aplies on DNL) states it clearly.
In DnL caused by a),b),c) the solution is a rollback.Well, good luck np3 boys...youre gonna have a lot of rollbacks real soon( I dont wanna know what is gonna happen when the 3rd fighting path is implemented - if it is ever implemented).
And this is why Dark and Light will, ultimately, fail.
MMORPG's have rollbacks from time to time. It happens. And normally when a rollback is performed, it's well deserved, and necessary to preserve the game.
But the ONLY reason why THIS rollback is happening is because they didn't test their patch, and then they decided to have ZERO monitoring of their product over the weekend.
This is unacceptable.
I mean, bugs happen. God knows, I've created some doozies in my day. But this particular bug was so easy to find, that it would have been spotted almost instantly, if only they actually TESTED their work before sticking it in live.

While its generally much more fun to bash Farlan as they usually deserve it and more I have to applaud them for taking the courage to roll back. But then again I have to ask why are they doing it. They had otehr options such as identifying the cheaters and rolling them back, deleting their characters, banning them or leaving it as it is. I don't think they were capable of any of those choices. Most games would have imediately shut down the server and got rid of the exploit. Their problem was letting it go on so long. Their solution of the rollback is by the easist, simplest solution, and the one that requirres the least amount of work on the part of Farlan which is probably why they chose it.
Personally I think they should have banned or delted characters from every cheaters account which would have probably resulted in them banning over half the active player base. But it would have sent a strong message. Whats funny is all the cheaters making threads thats its not an exploit. It really gives one an ideaof the immaturity of the players left playing DnL.
Regardless they should be applauded for the rollback. While for most companies it would not be an adequate response to the problem for Farlan it is much more than I would of expected of them.
Zippy-
I have to differ with you on this..
I believe the reason this "exploit" was such an issue was because it was A) nearly universal crafted items & C) allowed to go on for days with little/no dev intervention.
Most bugs that result in exploits are by a small number of players. The situation is almost always by beta players that found a "glitch" that they didn't report for the express purpose of gaining an advantage on retail release.
This exploit was based on a stock crafted weapon build. There is no sane reason for that type of bug to make it live and certainly no sane reason for it to remain live for 3 days. This simply didn't fit the type of exploit we see in professionally programmed games.
As for giving proprs to farlan, I can't go their either. The bug should never have made it live, thus their solution is moot. I don't believe you give praise for "doing the right thing" when a company made a series of concious choices that created the issue in the first place.
They didnt even fix the weapon bug so the roll back was pointless. They will have to do it again in a few days because the exploiters will just keep doing it.
There is a patch tommorow, my bet i that all the new gamebreaking bugg will be: flying transportation flying uppside down & backwards along with crafted weapons damaging the owner instead of the enemy when in battle. Impossible? well judging by Farlans track record...
The only strong message that Farlan has ever sent is "We are morons. We are lousy developers. Our programmers are clueless and inept. We listen to voices we hear in our heads and do what they say."
