To be able to play both CoX games could I:

1. Go to the ftp site where you get the trial client, get the client for both ones then buy an account?

2. Buy Both or two seperate serials?

OR

3. I have a trial client from a long time ago so could i just buy CoV and be able to play both?

    well;

You should be able to do any of the 3 you will still need to buy a CoH and CoV license key for both. So your not going to save any money either way. So if it was me I would just go out and buy both that way I have a hard CD of each, but then again that is just me.

    Hope this helps.

Not to mention, I bought the Collector's Edition for $19.99 and the regular edition download was still $49.99. CoH download has dropped to $29.99 but I'm sure you can find the actual box(DVD Collector's even) somewhere for $19.99 also. I got my CoV at Circuit City for the aforementioned price.

So, my advice: Don't buy it direct from NCSoft. Why pay extra for just a download when you can pay less and get all the goodies?

What I would do is go to Best Buy (or your favourite game store) and purchase both CoV and CoH. You should be able to get them for about $25-$30 each if you don't mind looking. (This will also include 2 months of free gameplay, 1 month from each game)

Then install the game from the CoV disks. It will lower the updating time significantly.

When you create your NCSoft account, make one (with either the CoH or CoV serial code, doesn't matter which) and then UPGRADE your account. Do not add a second game. Upgrading your account allows you to play both CoH and CoV with one monthly fee. You also get 12 character slots per server instead of 8, as well as hero-side access to all of the cool villain costume parts.

Yep, exactly as Mna_Grok says, except maybe you could find each game for $20 like I have seen them in the past.

You don't actually have to go to the store to get and play with COH. All you have to do is to download the game with the steps below:

    To
    download the City of Heroes

    client, please follow these steps:
    Please open an Internet
Explorer browser and type in this URL:
    ftp://client.coh.com

    For
    the United States Client:
Download and install the file Coh.zip
(coh_cd1.zip then coh_cd2.zip for 56k users) or Select the
CohUpdater.zip (this will install the updater only and will download
the CoH client upon first launch)

    For the European
    Client:
    Download and install CohUpdate.EU.zip

    Please be
aware that you will only be able to log into US servers if you have a
    US City of Heroes game
account created. As well, you will only be able to log into the
European servers if you have a European City
    of Heroes game account created.

    If you still have a
problem with this, we recommend that you use passive FTP. You can do
    this by following these steps:
    Open Internet Explorer
    Open the
Tools menu and choose Internet Options
    Choose the Advanced tab
and make sure that Use Passive FTP is selected.

After installing the game, you need to register an account with an authentication key, i am not sure, but my friend give me a serial code with free days play which  he got from gamersloot.net. After the free days, you can use a cov or coh gametime code to continue playing with your account. :D

     t, please follow these steps:

I have not heard of using a trial key and then basically only having to purchase the time cards.

From my experience you need that auth key and the only way to obtain it without leaving the house(since you are advocating downloading the client instead of getting the CD) is to buy it direct from NCSoft, which means you will pay more than is necessary.

Just today at CompUSA, you could get either CoH or CoV for $29.99 or the CoV Collector's Edition for $34.99.  Not the best price but still better than the NCSoft.  I still advise looking around for a deal at either CompUSA, BestBuy or CircuityCity(as I said, I got CoV, not the regular one but the Collector's Edition, for $19.99 at CC).  A little patience and you can not only get the product but change left over to buy another month.

Sure, you can download it or you can buy CoV at a store and get a better price, have an actual CD, not have to wait as long to load it and get bonus materials to boot.

If I were you I would I would use fileplanet and do the direct to drive download for COV its like 30 bucks and its quick and easy if you have a cable connection.  As previously stated for COH I'd probably find the collectors dvd edition for 20 bucks.  I already had the COH dvd so that might be why I went this route for COV, but make sure you don't pay over 30 for COV or your over-paying.

Use the code activation separetedly if you buy both, I am not sure they would give the 2 free month if you activate them at the same time.  I wouldn't risk it and take a chance like that.  :)
