What in the Hell are you NGEr's smoking?

iskareotiskareot Member Posts: 2,143

Guys, listen... I admit since beta 2 I had faith-- I supported , I played every day, I worked and applied effort in the game...

I did all of the profs some over 4 times, I have over 145 badges, I was a early patch 6 unlocker -- I have been in all the betas and tested things you never saw in game... I was on Bria --(No need to even ask that level of game) -- I have been to the Fan fests, the Summits and CANCELED due to the NGE..

Why in the Hell can you not see the issues with this game now?

I just have to wonder how some of this is just being "OVERLOOKED?"

I have to tell you, if todays youth is this passive and will take things without question like this... we are all screwed.

FREAKING GRAB your sac and ask "WHY?" --- Not accept everything you are told....   Damn Johnny Rotton needs to smack you guys..

If you know who he is..

Some see the issues, but don't perceive them as issues. It's star wars. The greatest saga ever told or something.

Go look at some other games, and read their forums. Even those that were proven to be scams still have loyal fanbase. Who am I to judge what people like. Some kids can play with cardboard box for hours.

And some are just obvious and plain shills, not that hard to find them.

Note I am one of the biggest Star Wars fans out there---

I went to see it with my Dad in a Station Wagon at the drive in  --- 1977 was a good year... I miss my dog...lol

I owned all of the Kenner toys and my son now has so many cool Star Wars things from the lego sets, to the other games.. he is 7 and can smoke half the people in Battlefront I know...

From Star Wars cereal to the Dath Vader that had the sword that would poke your eye out -- to the rare Boba Fett that you got with box tops from cereal that would shoot his back missle (only to be nerfed fast - choking hazard)...

From meeting Ray Park, getting Harrison Fords school buddy at my office to have him come by so I can get a chance to talk with him about the movies... you name it I have wanted it , had it or have it.

Trust me being a fan is not what this is about..

This is about some common sense and wonder in what people think is "OK" or acceptable.

Ironic that I am one of the companies that makes them and the cartons for the game -- Yes , I know -- how crappy is that to find out about the Starter kit that way....

Trust me, I wont go into detail but I will say there is ANOTHER BOX BEING MADE... but you did not hear that from me.

If it's SWG: Complete, it's not really big news.

Currently smoking Marlboro menthol lights. What's the point of this thread exactly?

The NGE is a steaming pile, but it's my credit card and the bill at the end of the month is mine to pay, so I'll do with it what I please.

Besides that, I've invested so much time and effort into this flagging turd, so I'll stamp on it some more and play it until I'm done. And next to SWG I subscribe to other MMOs, so I'm quite capable of making an informed opinion - unfortunately the right of every human being.

And anyways, all reasoning and explanation aside, it could be much, much, much worse...

    ...it could be DnL

Guessing a good portion of those who adamantly defend the NGE would be people who haven't really experienced what a working MMO should run like.  Sure people say "but I don't like fantasy crap (which it is) but fluid game mechanics as well as working quests/classes is far more important than an IP.  Others yo-yo back to the game because it's much like their first love and cannot let go of past memories.  Some stay because of friends they've met in game but even that has its limits.  Then of course you have the die-hard SW people who prove that if George Lucas were to shit in a paper bag, attach a Star Wars sticker to the bag they'd be more than willing to pay $29.99 for it and even more if it's labeled collection edition.

The best part about this is that the GAME IS FREE AND HAS BEEN-- Thats right FREE!!!!! ---- for a certain amount of levels and time -- the damn game is free...

So much for people flocking to play a free game.....

The game is on sale here for 16.99 discounted, on the bottom shelf at Wal-Mart -- they have two -- the same two for the last few weeks.  (we marked the sticker just to see lol)..

In a way it's sad.. but in a way maybe it will be a good thing, moving this faster into the crapper for a new version.

I was pondering this question myself today.  What in the heck is wrong with a person that they cannot identify a steaming, stinking pile of poo as a turd?  It just boggles the mind!

Go ahead and eliminate the issues that can be brushed aside as somebody's opinion (somebody's really stupid opinion IMO).  There are still soooo many gamebreaking bugs in the NGE...I can't fathom how they find it acceptable and worse yet, have any faith in anything those weenies at SOE say about making the game better.  Lies from SOE outnumber truths 10 to 1.

SOE will continue along their path of releasing more expansions based on a totally broken engine, until one day the servers have enough of their misuse and self-terminate.  Fixing something people are already paying for tends to become a non-priority to evil people.  And with SOE it seems to have been a non-priority even before release.

I am proud to be part of the solution.  I quit yesterday.

    RIP TekBacca.

I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever :)

its still swg, better in many ways and worse in some, for me the positives greatly outweigh the negatives and its not like swg was ever that good. At least now its more bearable.

I enjoy SWG and find a it a lot of fun, however with SWG game play there are most certainly a lot of issues that need to be addressed, that being said many issues are being addressed right now and will be addressed in future Chapters that will be released by the developers. I can understand your dislike of this game if you don’t enjoy playing it, you should really not play then. As far as issues go with SWG game play, as we all know there are many, but which MMO does not have issue, even the almighty WOW, has many issues that need to be dealt with, one of the issues I personally find with WOW having played it myself was that after level 10 for the most part the other 50 levels were basically the exact same thing, I actually find more exciting quests and adventure play in SWG then I did in WOW. Some will disagree with that and they are entitled to there feelings on the game, as I am to mine. Thank you for your time.

Damn byotch dat aint no friggn moon fool, dat be a friggn space station byotch.

Seriously.  Problem number one is that they will NEVER actually fix the issues before the next "Pull the rug" rewrite, at which point you might get why people are actually mad.  The promised every day to fix the problems Pre-CU, all the while developing the CU, which was a drastic change to the game engine.  The lies numbered in the 10,000s.  They are most likely lying to you too.

Problem Two:  Bugs in all MMOs.  No denying this.  But it is the nature of the bugs and the severity and ubiquity (they are everywhere).  Pre-CU's issues were due to developers never finishing things, like certain profession's specials that would not fire.  NGE has fundamental flaws like the inability to target what you want to target, heals and specials that fire 10 seconds after you are dead, and broken specials in EVERY PROFESSION.  It is borderline unplayable.

The animations look like something from a 1980s MTV Video, and the game just has no responsiveness compared to Pre-CU.  Crafters are obviously disdained in this system, as are Entertainers.

I agree with you that they are doing a good thing with the quests they are adding to the program.  But honestly, I get the impression you never played the Pre-CU game, so you do not understand the difference between a fluid game where interdependence between classes truly existed, and combat felt like combat.

With the NGE, I find myself beating the keyboard long after I am dead, from the sheer frustration of the game engine simply not working.  The combat queue in Pre-CU alleviated this issue because, even though the combat worked in turns, at least you could strategize and plan your shots in advance.

Please do not tell people who do not like the game to quit.  Some of us are simply asking for the choice of playing the old game, while you still get to play the new game.  How does that harm you?

I realize I said I quit. I never said it was forever :)

Yep, can't beat the "Kill 188,000 faction NPCs". That's exciting content.

And thanks for the Legacy quest. Such suspense, such excitement. Not two missions are the same.

Objectively speaking, SWG has always sucked horrifically ever since it was first launched.

Different phases may have appealed to different people, but overall it was always a trainwreck.

Pre-CU wasn't exactly a perfect fantasy land.  NGE is just a different flavor of suck.

I enjoy SWG I have fun with it, the reason I still have fun is because I see it as what it is, an MMO video game. I have my own feelings on SOE and they are separate from SWG. From your post you seem to dislike the idea of “go here kill that” go “there kill this” type of game play. I can understand why you would not like that; I am very glade that you do not play. From your statement though you must find it hard to find a good MMO to play since the games I have played like GW, EQ2, WOW, DAOC, AA, L2, SOR, all of these games and others like them for the most part are “go here kill this” go “there kill that” and etc… for XP, Faction, Clan and etc for points. If you have not tried it yet you may enjoy the MMO SEED, I have heard it is a fun game as well. Good fortune to you friend. Thank you for your time.

Yes, indeed, I have hard time finding a good MMO, since they all are based on the same principle. Seed, unfortunately, does not apeal to me.

My reference to quests in SWG was merely in response to your post, since I find the overall quality of this type of content in SWG to rather poor, especially compared to all of the games you mention above, most of which I have played at one time or another.

Right now, especially with the upcoming improvements, this is my major complaint with SWG, and one that seems to be shared by my peers. The quest content provided is unenjoyable for most of us, who were once used to a completely undirected content provided by sandbox. So I'm sure you understand my problem of why all the excitement over changes is dulled by completely unenjoyable quest experience.
