Has anyone here actually seen this happen? I never have... though I only play during peak hours... unlikely that someone would try this at that time for fear of being caught.

I have seen it

I've been in a gen room watching the door and suddenly had a enemy max behind me shooting the gen

I have watched a person in agile armor suddenly shoot straight up in the air and fly

While I have never personally seen someone grab the LLU I have seen the LLU Picked up message and about 10 sec later seen the cap message when the two bases were about a 1/2 continent away

I've seen it. late afternoon - only a few hours before primetime a couple of nights ago, he destroyed every gen on Amerish as a TR, then a few hours later took all the LLUs on Cyssor for the VS. name was LLLLLLlllIIllllLLLLLLL, something like that. a friend of mine had a conversation with him on /tells (which he took screenies of) and the guy was qute candid about the fact he was hacking.

Nope, their name was Icanflyyyyy and they admitted to hacking so it wasn't that. I watched them fly around as if they were in a mossie

Back in 03 around whent he game was first released there used to be alot of people doing simular things..They had a whole outfit called the smurfs or something that used to fly around in Max suits...I wont even get into some of the things I saw Planetsides most infamous players like Godjoey and SGSurge (or whatever his name was) do back in the days when you could surge with your weapon out.

Sucks but atleast the devs or my mad DEV said he is working on the issue.. To bad he doenst have much support from SOE in the form of Manpower to get a fix quicker..

GODJOEY was such a 'hole. he didn't hack that i saw, but he was a Spawncamper extraordinaire back before they added Pain Fields, reduced XP for new spawns, etc. Just planted a DC MAX in a spawnroom and waited, no attempt to actually kill the tubes...

Actually the NC were just as bad at this. drop two of the tubes then sit in the third with a JH pointed outwards: hear noise, press fire, count killspam. gj guys!

the day they reduced the XP for players killed within 15 seconds of spawning, JOEY's ludicrous killcount stayed exactly the same, but his XP reduced to about a 20th normal...

plus he did dumb stuff like post on the official forums about how wonderful he was, then use his half-dozen alts to post more worshipping replies, etc.

oh, and surgiles. oh, the surgiles...

Yeah Joey hacked I used to play TR back in the day and saw some very intereresting things from him, some of them were coding exploits like alot of people were using back then, others were more obvious hacks.. But I do agree he was a camper.. Funny thing is that I actually miss the days when you could camp the Spawn, pain fields suck as far as im concerned but thats just me.

Anyways I just resubbed agian last night since im bored of WOW and damn I must say that the populations are smaller then they ever have been.. I didnt even see 1 cont pop locked at Prime time.. Damn I thought this Reserve trial was suppose to help the populations.....I dunno maybe its the hackers, I have seen alot of people on the official forums saying there quitting untill the hacking gets dealt with.

Spawncamping is cheap, and i'm glad of the protections there are against it. it's an old joke of mine that only SOE would make an MMOFPS without Spawncamping, then add it as an expansion (you can't destroy cave spawns).

as for the server pops, therein lies a tale.

About two weeks ago, a largeish and pretty organised TR outfit moved from Markov to Emerald. at low time, they managed to pretty much sanclock the VS, then proceeded to hold at least one VS home cont for the next couple of days.

now SOE, for reasons i'm not entirely clear on, have gradually eroded any significant protection against uneven teams. you don't get extra health for being outpoped, you can have a character in every empire on the same server and you can switch straight from one empire to another (there's a timer on switching back, but it's either 6 or 12 hours now - nothing much).

the following is speculation, based on the reactions of my own outfit, and the few others i've spoken to:
so the VS logged on, saw that they were near sanclocked, played for a while but were unable to break the lock and either logged out in frustration or just switched teams (don't believe me? primetime the day after this, the pops were TR: 41%, VS: 26%, NC: 32%. NC kept their population, VS didn't, and i can't think of any other reason why). the NC, unable to make headway against the TR, either joined in double-teaming the VS or logged out themselves.

Within my own outfit, nightly turnout has been down significantly. IT's gradually creeping up again now, but we're still significantly lower than two weeks ago.

For the other servers, Markov has been having server troubles lately (the reason the outfit moved, apparently) and Werner has been plagued by cheaters. i hardly ever play on either myself, but that's what i'm hearing.

Seen the teleporting hack, and it is quite sad. I was actually having fun playing the game for a few weeks and it hasnt just been during down times. One weekend during the afternoon some gent was doing it on Ishundor(spelling?) CR5's were yelling all sorts of hateful things just to try to get a dev to log on and see what was going on.

In all reality PS devs probably have no idea wtf is going on. Heard one rumor that if you had a dual processor machine, that is the key. Honestly, the game is so hacked together, I mean ctrl+alt+del wont get you out of the game, but the windows key+d or +tab will, gimme a break.

Had fun while it lasted, but will be canceling my subscription soon(tm).
