WoW has gotten boring for me, and I am looking for an MMO to take its place. The main thing that got to me about WoW was its rigid character development system. I liked WoW, however, in that it had quality pve and pvp.
I considered playing Asheron's Call (I dabbled in it awhile back on someone else's account). I know the graphics aren't great, but that isn't a huge concern. A little one, but not game-breaking. Any thoughts on this choice, or other MMO suggestions?
I am looking for a more complex character development, and an all-around fun game for two people to play. I'm not huge on playing with lots of others, but I do play with a buddy pretty much everytime I log in. He likes to pvp, and I like dungeons, so having both of those is a plus.

I posted pretty much the same thing this morning.
I've just bought a serial for LineageII and am downloading it now.
If you and your friend play together you should have no problems doing good in game. There are PVE 'dungeons' of a sort in the game as well but not in the same vein as in WoW.
Ryzom has the complex character development you're looking for. Good graphics, too. And once the free expansion, Ryzom Ring, is released, players will be able to create their own dungeon-like content. There is also PvP, but it is consensual, so if your friend likes FFA he may not like Ryzom's system.

I'll check out Ryzom.
One thing I forgot to mention I prefer the fantasy genre. Space games and me (with the exception of Privateer way back in the day, which was awesome!) just never worked out for some reason.
Keep the thoughts coming!
