I'm sorry if these types of threads are posted alot, but I am really desperate in find a new MMO for me.
*(Not a bash on WoW by the way) In WoW right now, I had quit about 8 months ago, and just came back with some friends because they were intrested in playing. We joined a raid guild very quickly and proceeded to raid whenever we could. I've felt myself getting bored of the raid scene. and for the past few days trying the PvP grind(To rank 10) for the upgraded gear in 1.11. While I was taking a break, I was thinking if it was worth it to try this grind because I was playing as much as someone going for Field Marshal/Grand Marshal and I was gaining minimal honor due to pick up groups just plain sucking.
I understand I cannot have the perfect game, but I am trying to find the closest to it. I want a game that has a good population in it, and some sense of freedom of with what you want to do. I don't mind grinds at all, it is just when you can lose progress if you don't play a certian amount of time(Wow PvP Grind) is when I get annoyed. I am more of a PvE person, but I like to do PvP also, so if a game is focused one side with this I wouldnt mind. Ones I am currently looking into are Everquest II(I played the trial, but the island they place you on isn't enough to judge the game), Ryzom, City of Heros/Villians and Eve Online. Thanks for any help.

Ryzom has a lot of freedom. I see you're already looking into it, so just give it a try. The free trial is unlimited time and does not require CC info.
