From DirectX 8.1 to DirectX 9.0b

I have this game that I'm currently trying...

and I wanna see how different the environment looks with DIRECTX 9.0b.

Yet for some reason I can't install DX9.0b because my current version of WIN XP can't support DX9.0b.

So I tried to update my win xp and it says I have nothing to update....

So I'm stuck. I can't update my directx 8.1 to 9.0b

Anybody got a suggestion?

If you just have Windows XP, look for the windows XP Service pack 1.

Well before going nuts, make sure the game itself is using Dx9 only features. Dx8 and 9 are very much alike, except for ps2.0 support mainly...

Most games that use Dx9 only features practically force you to use Dx9 or it wont run, Halo is one of the few that downgrades from ps2.0 to ps1.0...

If the game doesnt have Dx9 only features then you wont see a difference...

PS. Make sure that your Video Card supports dx9 (Radeons 9700 and newer and GeforceFX). If your card doesnt support dx9 instructions then you wont see anything special.

Whats the game and your videocard? Ill tell you instantly. :)
