Martial Arts Interest

I was wondering...

How much into martial arts does this game go? Like, is it intense or does it just kinda dabble a bit here and there. From what I've looked at, a lot of games around "martial arts" just have the same regular MMO attacks and label their characters "martial artists." I was wondering if Hero actually had some real martial arts integrated into the gameplay. That would be freeking FUN.

I don't know all too much about martial arts (I've really only done Tae Kwon Do...) but the game is pretty... eh... sweet, for lack of better word, when it comes to visual moves. People aren't kidding when they say you can jump crazy heights and dash over water. It's pretty much a classic crazy-fighting Chinese movie put into MMO format, which I think is worth seeing.

I've only played two of the four character choices, but already, they have completely different styles of fighting. So yeah, if you're into that stuff, this game should be "freeking FUN."

fighting is cool, but seems more like dragon ball or something rather than actaully real martial arts. the later skills do cool energy flying everywhere effects and ur character goes flying.

It's not too bad. You get a some pretty decident moves and they get more interesting as you level up and get new skills.

However, it's not exactly a martial arts MMO in that the the skills and
some moves look like they could have come from any euro/midevil type
    game.

Open beta will be starting shortly. I'd recommend trying it out. I played in the closed beta and found it to be a lot of fun.

The community was pretty good and if you are up to speed on Asian folklore, you'll see a lot of things you'll recognize.

  • Awright, well I'm stoked. I'm not THAT hardcore about martial arts to be picky about the style, so any of it is good enough for me. From what you guys said, it looks like the moves are cool looking. Cool. I'll be sure to check out the open beta. Just gotta download the client...

come to think of it, i don't think this game really emphasises martial arts since once you get past like level 5, you don't use arms and legs to fight. You start relying on weapons and skills.

Well... weapons and skills are considered martial arts as well. I mean, the names of the skills are pretty... martial arty?

In any case, each character still has their own style, even with their respective weapons. So martial arts is incorporated in a lot of the game.

It's just no one pays attention to it much.

Oh yeah, I've been wondering that too!

Maybe it'll be like a cash item weapon or something.

I think Hero Online, has more martial arts aspects in the game compared to most other wanna-be martial arts game. I give this game pretty good rating if it was under the category of "game most related to martial arts". If you really like martial arts, you will really like this game.

I can picture this game being really cool like ne othe rmartial arts movie, that is of course once everyone's level is really high. BUt for now the game is perfect for what it is right now.
