Just curious. If I missed an obvious answer somewhere let me know and I'll feel accordingly ashamed and humiliated.

    You will get your account when the KO devs decide they want to use them....which will probably be at the start of the open beta.  I decided not to claim my winning ticket because I am already in...so I gave someone else a shot :)

    oh...so let me get this straight. I just won a spot into a beta that I won't get until I could get as many as I want anyway?

    The mmorpg.com staff has no control over when KO will decide to activate the accounts they just gave out.  You will just have to wait until you receive an email with a username and pw.....until then you might as well download the client.

    It's ok. I just figured they had been told about it or something. I mean...a prize is pretty useless if you give it away and it doesn't work so I figured they'd know about this ahead of time.

    No biggie. It just sounded funny to me.

    Either way, you will be able to play soon.  The Devs have said that closed beta is coming to an end soon, so you won't have long to wait until you are able to get in the game.

    A contest to give away slots to an Open Beta? That does not sound correct. I hope this is wrong.

    Wouldn't make sense to give them away for the closed...Since after closed beta, which ends in a few weeks, they are deleting all closed beta accounts.  You would only get to play for several weeks if it was for closed beta so if I were you I would be happy.

    It seems that usually people that are in a previous phase of beta are usually kept in the beta until the game goes retail. So they may be wiping characters and accounts but the beta testers are usually kept. So it would make sense to give us current beta accounts rather than Open Beta accounts. Otherwise why have the giveaway so far in advance?

    Contest or not, open-beta or not, it's all free so why complain?

    Maybe the mmorpg staff just ran out of things to give away so they're looking around for open betas available to keep the giveaway going. :)

    Open betas do not necessarily mean that you will get in. They often cap it off at a certain amount of people which in this case would be a good idea due to the overwhelming amount of registration traffic the received.
    The other thing is you are now guaranteed a spot with no waiting for a spot to free up or for Koadamin to decide to let in the second wave of testers.

    LOL its not for open beta.  I'm sure you folks that won will get in the closed beta.  Plus, you have no real idea when open beta starts.  Companies say alot of things.  I still don't understand how folks who were given the first 20 accounts also won in this contest.  Seems pretty messed up to me.  Can't blame you for entering and it was nice of you to give that extra account to someone that needed it.  I hope in the future MMORPG is a little more fair with their contests.  It certainly shouldn't be based on post count or user level rating.  I don't post as much as some folks, but I visit the site all day long and have been for a while.

    Well thing is, I belive the 20 have all been here for a hell of a lon time eg 4 or 5 months.

    btw most people who test it give up on it and never bother with it again so no great loss.

    Hey, uh coldsun it isnt based on stuff like that, i entered in this contest and got it, and i got less posts then you do... its all random luck, i was fourtunate to get into this beta along with my friend Farseen. I applied to the Wish contest and didnt get it, but im not complaining. So im just telling you that it isnt based on ur posts or rating. And i am a new member, not even a month old. :)

    Thanks Dukaseen :) Its good to hear that.  Someone else on another thread said that so thats why I repeated it.  Honestly, I don't think it should matter at all how long someone has been on this site, otherwise why would new members even bother right?
