loooks like wow...

Who ever keeps on saying that should be shot.  WoW came out like 2 years ago Warhammer has been out since late 80's.  The tabletop pieces look exactly like the ingame char's in the pics.  If u say it looks like WoW you should be shot period.

The scariest thing about this post, is that some day, many moons from now, when I'm old, this is the type of 'person' that will be running the show.

Those with wisdom know warcraft copied WAR not the opposite way.

Back in my days at the World of Wacraft forums, one poster
from Blizzard themselves said this and I quote from him, “All art is
derivative.” I am sure even Blizzard knows that a lot of ideas that Warcraft
has (ie, Dwarves love ale) came from Warhammer. That being said, Warhammer took
those ideas from some other intellectual property, whereas that said IP did so
from another one. However the quality Warhammer is known for obviously stands
    out.

Another similarity comes from Starcraft and Warhammer 40K (Tyranids
vs Zerg anyone?) Perhaps it is the idea also that Starcraft is a lot like 40K
that puts the Games Workshop intellectual properties vs. the Blizzard
    intellectual properties.

You're all beating a dead horse.  We know WAR was first please move on.

and tolkien was before Warhammer.. waka waka!

dont think Games Workshop took ideas from him tho. do think blizzard took ideas from Games workshop to make their games.

the games do look very similare, if you check the screenshots posted from both, but this is because:
    1. they both started with the models of GW, to built from.
    2. dwarfs are hard to make, if you want a very unique one(every single race has the base features, such as dwarfs are short, "fat", beer drinking, angry people and so on)

They had Trolls and Dwarfs in Discworld too... i can't believe they copied them from WoW, my opinion on Terry Pratchett sure has changed.

You are very much correct, BUT!

You all have to keep in mind one thing. Warhammer may have been around much longer than Warcraft, but WoW has been around much longer than WAR.

Because of that reason, WAR will always be compared to WoW, not the other way around.

All i was saying was that people should recognize that there was life before them and that warhammer came way before WoW.  I know it will always be compared to WoW but people should recognize that Blizz used alot of things from warhammer to create their games.

Meab, there are no WoW fans on this board. Just let your topic die.

I know what you mean, but, I don't care if it does look like WoW.

I can live with WoW graphics bolted onto the DAoC RvR concept with EQ2's crafting complexity and CoH's character diversity.

I'm not going to get that I know, but I can dream

To fuel the argument I offer this.
Up until Games Workshop created Warhammer, Orcs were considered to have Black or Brownish skin.
GW upset a lot of the Fantasy types by giving Orcs Green skin.

Why do Orcs in WoW have green skin ?
Why do Orcs in WoW look so similar to the ones in the above link ?
Why am I writing this when there is sunshine outside and beer in the fridge ?

Sorry folks - the call of alcohol has destroyed my chain of thought.

Buy Beer. Buy WaR. Bye Bye

    A bit Off topic, but...

Every time i see the expression Intellectual Property i laugh... I mean isn't the concept just plain stupid? 'i thought of this first so you're not allowed to think about it'... Or more likeöy, 'i claim to have thought about this first...' ... or even more likely 'I was the first to get a piece of paper that says that i claim to be the first...' ...

Laws like that are going to send us back to the stone age sooner or later :P

I understand that Warhammer has been around long before WoW...but what does that have to do with the Warhammer Online game looking like WoW?  Do you mean to tell me that back at the very creation of Warhammer, the monsters and characters look like they do in WAR?  Just pointing this out.  I could care less what looks like what.
