I would consider myself half decent in flying sims. I am presently on the free trial. Scoping the game out. I was flying an aircraft and monitoring the chat. It was a fighter. Here I was heading toward the british lines and went in to strafe the area. WTF.....I dont know what hit me, but I was taken out with one hit!!
Didnt see any AA guns.
Is there something I should watch for? I came in high and swooped down. Is there a correct way for strafing?
Sorry if I sound stupid, but this game is so different from any game I have played. I love it.

vision. Either that or you got jumped by an enemy fighter. More than
likely it was a AAA in a good spot.
Besides that, WWIIOL has lots of fighter aces. And these guys is very experienced too.
Best way, or should I say only way to survive in the air is to fly in formation. You need someone who watches your back when you goes in low.
If you want to know what killed ya, look in the player stats under your game name. It will tell you who you killed and who killed you per mission.

Well you need to be invited.
There is a recruitment section in the official forums, and generally if you play long enough you will be asked.
But to be fair, most the asking occurs as a ground pounder. If you would like a good squad that does personal Training in all aspects of the game and is Allied I might be able to help ya out.
Also it helps if ya get Teamspeak, and ask in division chat or help channel about Teamspeak and your side.
KGW has mostly Scandinavian players, but we have members from all over Europe and a few guys from US as well.
KGW has five Abteilungen (Companies if you like).
Ground
Oden: Infantry
Thor: Tanks
Sleipner: Artillery (both ATG and AAA)
Air
Hugin: Fighters and Tactical bombers
Special forces
Loke: Recon for both Ground and Air
Yeah, I wouldn't advise flying alone in this game. Heck, I don't advise doing anything in this game alone. This game is designed as a Team oriented game. I highly recommend becoming part of the team of your choice. It'll only help you enjoy the game all that much more.
Good luck and have fun!!

There is nothing team oriented in the game. There is no radar, so therefore there is no air defence coordination. Squads don't communicate contacts with other squads, and neither does information pass to and from high command, so therefore coordination does not work on the teamspeak either. Visual distance is so short, passing contacts is a useless gesture anyways. Teamspeak channels are clan'nized, and every squad leader is a legend in their own mind and somehow lack all talent, inspiration and leading capabilities.
If all else fails, which it will, especially if you play german, just run to the AA AI. Lock the tailwheel.

radar in the next patch
Spotters and Radar
Radar for Battleground Europe has one primary goal: attract game play. We are implementing the first stage of a radar and ground spotters system to augment the EWS that is already in place. This system will display air targets on the in game map. The displays will be organic and not in real time, simulating the communications between a pilot and his support services. The updates wil be amalgamated geographically and temporally, meaning that you won’t get exact locations and you won’t get real-time updates but in generally you will get a feel for where enemy air forces are so that you can plan interdiction. This feature wil be theater wide, there will be no option for skirting the system at present. This system will also not be interdictable at first implementation though we greatly desire to add this ability in future refinements of the system. This system will however, promote group tactics and make finding an air battle much easier.
Head on, apply directly to the forehead.

My experience is that squads always cooperate with eachother. To not
cooperate as a team means failure, always. So not only is there a
strong incitament to cooperate within the squads, but also among the
squads.
And the primary source for communication and recon is the Target channel.
I belong to a squad that always muster 40-60 members each squad night.
And even though that is quite good number do we as often as possible
cooperate with two or three other squads. That means that we seldom
have numbers below 100 players in our operations. Each squad is
independent but we all have different responsibilities to take care of.
And to make it work must we always communicate all the time to get updated of the progress and enemy movements.
Then am I pussled about your comments on Squad COs. It seems to me you don't know much about Squads and the squad COs either. From
where I come from is the Squad leader retiring after a year or so. It
takes too much time and efforts to lead a big squad. Since WWII Online
was released have KGW had five Squad COs and even more XOs. All very good and
experienced. But no one is sitting on any high horses. But they are
all still contributing with their experience and knowledge as all the
rest of KGWs officers and NCOs.
So yet again, it seems you don't know what you are talking about.
Besides that, since you claim WWII Online has such a bad visual
distance do I wounder which other game with a fullfledged ground and
surface game that have a longer visual distance then WWII Online? 8000
meter of visual distance isn't that badly when you fly in my opinion.
But anyway I want to check out your new favorite game that beats the
heck out of WWII Online.
Judging by your exaggeration of issues and your attitude your squad was probably just avoiding you Nerf09.
What's this crap about view distance? There is not another game on the market with such a massive fully usable view distance.. It's hard to get so frustrated that you will blatantly lie just to keep a few people from trying the game.. You shoulda quit ww2ol earlier if you have suffered that big of an impact to your epeen.
wimps need not apply, ww2ol is a complicated and often frustrating game. It is hardcore PvP with no punches pulled. If you have to be uber, unstoppable and get a huge ego from your games (AKA no challenge, just feel good girl scout BS) don't bother with ww2ol. If you want a challenge then give it a try.
I wish some players could have the strength of not being so obsessed with a game..
