Drop rate is at random. It is determined not by fame nor playtime. There is a highly skeptical and questioned theory in progress on www.sleepywood.net/forums about drop rate. Just use the search function. In lamence terms, i will describe on how the drop rate works. According to the founding users who came up with the theory in beta, i did not come up with  this theory but i do follow it, since it has always worked for me and others. You just have to pay attention.

Drop rate is determined by the experience number, not percent. There is a drop range, you will get drops in that range for a few levels, then you enter a dry period and it resets itself. This is how it works.

Say you are level 90. You need roughly 5,960,000 experience to level from 0 to acheive the next level. From level 89,88,87,86,85,84 you learned and wrote down all your drop times at the exact experience number. From level 84 to 90, you recieved iem drops at exactly 300,000 experience, 304,000 experience and 305,000 experience. Then you do not recieve another drop until 1,592,000 experience. All of these vary for each user.(Im using these figures as an example.)

When you recieve a drop at 300,000 experience, 304,000 experience and 305,000 experience, your range is 300,000 to 310,000 experience. You are guarenteed 3 drops maximum. Every time you level, experience is increased to level to the next level. So for now, you offset your previous level range by either 5,000 experience to 20,000 experience just to stay safe. During your so called "range" you should hunt higher level monsters, or monsters that drop better items in which you can sell to other people for mesos.

Things that may affect your "drop range" are :

    1) Partying - Partying is good for experience, but only your experience that you earn for yourself and your party will be accounted into your drop/experience scheme, therefore it offsets your drop range dramatically. The experience that i've stated above, is the WHITE experience that you earn, not the yellow.

    2) Death, death resets your experience drop rate.

    3) Patch/server checks, all figures and data are changed, therefore your character's drop/experience ratio is changed.

Those are the 3 main factors.

To best insure on how to find out your range is, start recording everytime you recieve a drop at level 50+. Begin recording your range after a patch, try not to party for 3 or 4 levels to do so. After one level or two, you can choose to go hunt a higher level monster to test this theory on yourself.

    Thanks, and happy mapling.
