keanu reeves denies the existance of this game how sad...

He was asked recently what he thought of the Matrix Online mmorpg game.

"Absolutely horrible, that game is not anything like that actual movie...."

Way to go devs. Pissing off Keanu? .....

Sad, people bitch about how bad the game is and dont even try it. Why does everyone hate it?

The live events and stories pre SOE purchase in MxO are far better than parts 2 and 3 of the "Matrix trilogy". The first was well done, but the 2nd and 3rd movies were just tacked on. Reeves wasn't the best acting in the original either...

Personally, if I was running MxO I would be glad for anyway to not be associated with Reeves. He is in a movie on TBS almost every weekend and I have yet to amazed by his acting. Well, I am amazed he is still in movies, but then I assume he is cheap to employ.

Keanu's just pouting because NEO IS DEAD
and so far MxO has decided he's never coming back (with the exception of Morpheus' partially reconstructed 'floating dead man' trick ::;^):: )

That and I agree with Vyava.
KEanu's never been an actor in my opinion, and judging anything, especially an mmorpg based on his opinion just seems utterly laughable and hilarious to me. ::::20::

Do you have a link to some actual proof that he said that, or are you just trying to troll?

Until I see some proof of this quote, it is as fictional as the Matrix itself.

I deny ever having played this game - want a link to that too?

Proof? Like it matters since the trilogy was so bad and ended up being like Reeves career (Showed promised in the begining then has never stopped going downhill)

How sad. A movie that done his profile wonder's, now slates the company that done all that for him

Regardless of what Keanu said or what anyone thinks of MxO, I am still a Matrix fan, and I still have a little bit of hope for the game.

I played for a few months at the start, and had a great time due to an excellent comunity on the Linenoise server.  These were folks that had been through the development of the game and beta, all the way to the launch and after.  They were roleplayers and PvPers, and cared about the game.

After a while, things started to go downhill.  I don't know if it was because of the storylines, of which I was very disappointed with, or if it was the gameplay and a lack of depth and complexity.  There are also many things from the movies missing in the game, especially life onboard a hovercraft.  I would have liked to play my character in the "real world" as well as plugged into the Matrix.

Anyway, who care what he says.  Remember Harrison Ford's refusal to acknowledge the Star Wars Trilogy in boosting his career.  People sometimes don't realize what they've got, or the importance of what they've done, until later on.

Regardless what you think of Keanu, the fact is, the actor who played Morpheious was in the game and that wasn't enough to bring in the Matrix fans.  He bailed soon afterwards.

To me, Keanu is the reason I watched the Matrix movies, along with the girl who played Trinity, not morpheus, not niobe, not any of the other supporting characters that were all that remained in the dead end Matrix Online version.

Without Neo or Trinity, or even Smith, they basically shot the game in the foot and it has limped on ever since.  Time to put this game out of its misery.

I did play the beta game and told them what I felt was wrong with the game, they didn't listen.  If Keanu wasn't important to the movies, you must have been out getting popcorn for about an hour and a half and came back to see the scenes he wasn't in.

If he said the game sucked, it's cause he probably has more common sense then some of you.

I'm sorry to say, but your reasoning sounds too familiar to SOE and LA's reasoning for changing Star Wars Galaxies.  By trying to make the game just like the movies, they limit players even more, and narrow the scope of the game.

Yes, it is nice to have voices of the actors for their NPC counterparts in the game.  But SWG and MxO is about the whole world in which those movies take place, not about the stars of the show.  In a mmorpg, our characters should be the stars.

I watched the Matrix movies because of the whole theme and idea of it.  Keanu played a good part in the films, but it was the atmosphere and effects that made the trilogy great, in my opinion.  For MxO to improve, I think that it has to return to the fundamentals and really put players into the shoes of us red pills, and also to capture the films settings in the real world as well.

Any game focusing on actors seems shallow to me.  When I played MxO, there were players who had characters in the game that eventually became memorable and important to the storyline.  They were very involved roleplayers who contributed alot to the game.  I appreciate this type of game, where players can take part in more ways than just raiding and fighting eachother in PvP.  Characters from the films were tools that the devs and CRs used to set things up, and the players took it to the next step.

Many players who tried the game failed to experience this, and I think it's a shame, because there may have been much better opinions of the game if they did.

Well, for one thing, I doubt that if questioned, Keanu would never phrase it in that sense. The reason being, the Wachowski Brothers are behind the game's storyline, as well as it's direction. Keanu himself has most likely never played the game, and forgotten of it since the release of Path of Neo. For someone who did not contribute his own likeness to the game, or was even confronted on the topic, he would still have enough ethics to remain aware of how a statement of that multitude would make him seem.

I don't know why people dont like Mxo i played for like 20 days and i love it but i stop playing it because i start playing wow wich i think its the best MMORPG right now, i m getting kinda bored of Wow and i thinking about GW but i asked some Wow players about GW and they said somethings that i really didn't like it about GW, anyway the point its that the only problem of Mxo its that it have very very bad publicity and it needs alot more players.

BTW: i start playing Wow cuz i heard it has a huge amount of people playing and many friend were gonna start playing with me.

First of all, saying that the game is horrible and not the same as the movie is completely different than denying the existance of the game.  TOTALLY different.  It makes me sad that you post a bunch of bull, and I read this because I thought it was funny, but in reality it was just obvious.  Of course, he hasn't played it.  He probably came on MMORPG.com right before this fictional interview (link please) and read our reviews.  He then went to his interview and said it was total bull, which it isn't.  The game ISN'T that bad, it IS similiar to the movies. And someone else said that the movies were bull, well I disagree.  They were the best trilogy I've ever watched in my opininon.  Now watch the next post is gonna be something like this:

    Quoted from Blaze323232

They were the best trilogy I've ever watched in my opininon.

ARE YOU CRAZY!! BUT HARRY POTTER IS TH.....

Anyways, I don't believe you, and before posting a title, make sure you understand the words you're posting...

I think The Matrix Online is far under rated. If we compare it to City of heroes, then it isn't all that bad and CoH is known to be a solid mmo. I personally found the city in MxO much better then CoH, because of the simple fact I could inside any building. MxO isn't the holy grail, but it isn't a bad game either.

If I compared it to COH it would not bode well for MXO.

If I compared it to Runescape it would do much better.

However good this game is, it's not good enough to pay money for. And even free it's appeal is limited.

MxO is not THAT bad.  ... it could use some more work though. Anyways, I think SoE may have bought the rights so they can use the engine technology for a future MMO. The way the world is built where you can go in to any building , up elevators and back out with no instance is amazing.

I agree it is cool that the buildings are open but...

You have no source for you allegations that SOE just bought it for the Monolith engine.  From what i've read from dev responses the game is very restrictive on what they can and can't do..so judging by that you'd have to be pretty stupid if you wanted to use Lith's engine.  It seems like it wasnt made very well...not very expandable or adaptable at all.

The monolith engine is chod. SOE have plenty of game engines, why would they want to buy the buggiest one on the market to steal it's technology when they own a variety of really good ones already?

The bought it because it was cheap.

    Very cheap.

Matrix Online is a very good compliment to Sony's Station Pass. Another MMO to throw in to the bundle.
