Mods and UI's for EQ2

doLL66doLL66 Member Posts: 19

Alright, I am going crazy.  I just bought EQ 2 last night, I am really digging it except I decided to go on a hunt for a new UI or Mod and this search is proving to be painful!  I am playing a troubador and would really like to see something user friends for that.  I am not a big fan of having things plastered all over my screen.. I hate the 5 inch bar at the top and bottom.

I want something clean, useful, that shows me more hotkey buttons at one time than the default.  I finally found one I was excited about, Jaxel's, but its way outdated and only half works.  And what is with the jumping thorugh hoops to get the UI's installed?  Wow.  So far this is REALLY discouraging to me.

If anyone knows of a clean/useful UI that will give me more than the standard 10 hotekey functions without junking up my screen.... I am all ears.

Thanks!

Yeah.. I already weeding through all those crappy, cluttered ui's.  Was hoping there was a better alternative.

I have to say.. of all the MMORPG games I have played... EQ 2, by far, as the worst UI's.  Almost enough to make me not want to play.  Nothing like hunting for buttons or looks past all the clutter... whoooo hooo.

You know, you can make the 5inch black bars go down. There is a setting in the interface options.

If you want more hotbars, right click a hotbar and select the option to create another.  You might try Thor UI.  I've been using it for over a year and it is supported by it's developer with an auto-updater.

EQ2 gets more and more cluttered as you gain levels and need more stuff.  That's just a hard fact.  However, there are ways to manage it.  Someone posted above about ThorUI.  I used to use that one, and it's really nice.  However, I currently use Prophet UI (off of eq2interface.com) and I personally like it much more.  The only downside is that it isn't auto-updating.

Oh yeah.  Whatever you decide to get, make sure you also download EQ2Map.  It's auto-updating and it adds maps to many zones and instances in the game that do not normally have their own.

Here's a screen of Prophet UI.

I use ProfitUI as well, the project has just been restarted as well.

Only downside to a custom UI is that when SOE change the UI Objects (often) you have to wait for the person to sort their UI out.

ProfitUI is crisp, clean and gives you a large viewing area, I play at 1680x1050 resolution and it's a very nice experience.  I tried ExtremeUI for a few days and the buttons where far to small.

I got my UI on ogaming.com click on interface and try nightfall and I got the map updater! Gives you all the maps but a few in KOS and the interface is small and out of the way...there is patch for the broker you will have to get but, together they work rather nicely and it comes in black and purple!

I hope this helps or you find soemthing you like!
