WEll i been playing it all day and thought i give first impressions.
Graphics- some asked for screenies.Sorry did not take any and there is no need to .Remember all those beta shots u seen .Same thing no change .The models appear to be fighting the war to be 3D or 2D and have not decided yet. While it is i suppose 3D it appears extremely flat and the models slant. The terrian too appears band, dull and uninspiring.
Basically if you are into graphics or need a game with some looks turn away now this is not for u.You must be ready to accept a very outdated look before you try this game
sound-not much of it though i loved the loading music one of best i seen but apart from that there is some sound and laughter and such .pretty basic stuff
interface-movement is usual WASD.The interface looks clunky and uncomfortable. However its pretty straightforward due to it been very plain.Movement is kind of slow and sluggish.
tutorial/help.None in game at all.You got to figure it out ,which depends how you look at it can be a good or bad thing. This is old skool .You enter the world like in EQ1 at launch and thats it figure it out yourself.
However, there is thru the website a help page which you can search for questions but it seems mostly unfinished and some basic questions gave no results in search.
char creation.Via website again.I might be doing something wrong but i picked my skills and character.I got only option to make a single charcter and i cannot alter him not delete him. This seems totally strange as you get one shot to make a character and got to live with it.I am sure something is amiss here and there is a delete button i missed somewhere.
Combat-well as a starting slave i am forced to run errand for my master. Now first there is one master for all of us in town and npc in this game can only talk to one person at a time.To make matters worse if the person talking to the npc decides to go make coffee you have to wait for him to time out before anyone else can talk to the npc.So there is actually a queue to talk to your master and then you have to run errand for hours.
As such thats all i been doing and not even come near any combat to judge that part yet .
Environment- mentioned before very dull and plain. Also it seems to be devout of any animal life forme.
performance- seems stable.Had a bad spell for about 1 hr but settled in nicely and no lag now. However there is still random teleportation occuring.
Conclusion- i still need more time to make a better review espically with combat, crafting as i have not touched those yet. But,it is and feels like a small project made with heart.I admire the efforts put in by a small team but it is a long way off the usual retail mmorpg we know of.

Is PnC possible??
I despise WASD.....
I didn't even look into that aspect of the game before I got all excited about it. Darn it.

If there is such an option i doubt many are using it as everyone i seen seems to be running errands.

About an alternative way to get out of attending: it will be in the future, there isn't one now. It is something quite a lot of people have asked for, so I wouldn't find it strange that it would be added quite soon. The gladiatorial path is a completely different thing. That is to gain your FREEDOM. These errands are to get you out of Attending. Attending is a semi-tutorial state where you can't attack nor be attacked.

Thanks i will try that once i get home tonight as i like to fool around different skills before i settle in .
Anyway do your service well, be realised and you may be recognised by the magistrate that way.
I don't know what to put here yet.
Well until there is a magidtrate appointed which may take weeks there is no way to get out of it.And considering there is no maunal i am sure you will find many new players still stuck in attending even if there is a magistrate by time the other crowd comes in.
Apart from this there is NO other implemented way out of it.I have asked around.
They fixed the memory leak!! Thats a major plus and step ahead since there are no more performance bugs!
I can't see what the big deal about attending is anyway, its just the first few hours of required dedicated work. I don't see how its so different from grinding games. Maybe a bit more boring then grinding the MOBs but hell its only for 8 hours of gameplay. After attending is done, you are free....it doesn't come back, so whats the problem?
I understand new players will have a hard time playing this game, but KFR never said this was for the casual gamer. Every says its for a niche type of MMO Player. KFR won't even hint how to make a bloody torch....he wants us to find out for ourselves how to make torches. Its the same for everything. Something new like a battleaxe gets implemented, the crafters will just spend hours figuring out how to make it. KFR won't say a thing about how to make it....reason being he feels its a spoiler if he gives away any information about how to make it. And he says find out for yourself or get someone to help you and there is always the resort which is the Wikipedia, but thats empty for the time being. The players will refill it with information though.
The game was never intended to be easy. The player himself has to learn how to make an item with what ingredients and how, and that adds interaction for the player. The first time crafters could make a sword, they had to spend hours researching on the net about how to smith them, then discovered the possibilities were provided in game as well.
At the moment, I think RV is the ultimate crafting game there is. Its still a project in development, but its going to retain a player base, cause there are just so many fanbois like myself. I am so happy that the devs have over come the issues we faced this first week and I believe this game will meet what it promised, just that they will be delayed. But I would never criticise them for not meeting their promises, considering the game they made, with the possibilities it has and the fact that the dev team is around 10 people really.
I don't know what to put here yet.
So you see absolutely nothing wrong with spending 7 hours gameplay(more for most!) doing repeatitive and boring chores as the first thing to do in as a new player in a game with zero other options till you are done????
Are You serious?

Sounds like people are coming up with good comments according to the time they spent playing, and if Redbedlam folks keep listening and reacting to make the game better, this alone is a good enough reason to buy the game and give it a fair shot.
I am looking forward to next week when I can get it, I hope . . .
The obvious problem is you are too lazy to spend a few hours a day working on attending to get it over and done with. You could get it done in less then 4 hours if you had any friends who could help you. 7 hours solo keep in mind. Atleast attending didn't require you to do things on your own.
From one thing you complain to another. A few days back you were complaining how an NPC interacts with only one person. Being the narrowminded person, of course you would think your gameplay experience is ruined but if you thought a little harder you would have realised it was just a server side bug and that things would calm down with most of the players advancing in their own lines of craft and getting out of attending. Now there is only a very rare occasion when the NPC is occupied. So keep in mind things do improve.
I don't know what to put here yet.
You can insult all you like and try be a rabid fanboy.I seen many come and go so it has no effect.
I state the obvious and as you can see issues rabid fanboys like yourself deny exist are been looked into.
On a plus note RB is trying to fix the issues and listening. The leak is more or less fixed. The attending seems to be a top priority for RB.
I would urge RB to continue the good work and listen to the community. As they are aware from the participant forum most ppl are unhappy with attending and they seems to notice this.
Having rabid fanboys like this come here ,insult people and claim there is no problems and nothing is wrong will only hurt your product.
Keep on fixing the game and i am sure it will have a good chance of success.Listen to rabid fanboys like this and you will have an empty world.
As games improve i state the improvements. If a game goes downhill i state that too.And i expect same from others .Because a game you support 110% has issues does not mean it will not be revealed.Insulting will not stop this at all i assure you.
They fixed the memory leak and i gave them praise. The more the fix the more i will give credit. But if not i will state that.
I have no blind loyality to any game in the market in my 7 years playing mmorpg i will not have any now.Fact i bought the game means i had intrest in it and if it has issues it should be stated to all to read as this is why this site exist. Its an information site not a hypemeter site.
And oh to the poster above i am sure if i had no job i would want a virtual job and spend hours a day grinding attending and crafting. But you see those with jobs want fun in their games and an escape from it all.One day you will understand this i am sure.
