ok, i just got GW like 1 week ago awesome game, im a rng/mo how do i get a pet ?? For my ranger

Whenever i step outside, somebody claims to see the light

    There are two types of pets you can get and im not sure which u mean.  The 1st is a ranger specific pet(which i think u are talking about).  To get a pet you must find a wild animal out in a area. Ex. stalker, tiger, bird, lizard, bear, etc.  Then use the skill CHARM ANIMAL or something related to that.  A gauge will then start to countdown.  During the countdown the animal will start to atk you.  Do not kill it cause you will lose the chance to charm it.  Once the gauge reaches the end and the animal is still alive their name will turn green and it is now yours.  Hope that helps

    The second pet is a mini pet and was introduced in factions.  It was given to ppl if they bought the collectors edition I believe.  They are minitature figurines that follow ppl around in game.  Completly worthless cause they do not atk and are only good for selling and trading.  They usually sell for 50k.

    The mini-pet or "miniature" is actually a sort of reward you get for having a character that is 1 year old.   You get a birthday present that can be opened and inside is a random mini-pet.  Buying the Factions collector's edition gets you a mini-pet of the dragon Kuunavang.  Sin- was right, however, in saying that mini-pets are simply a novelty.
