To see all of us Vets united against the common foe. Even if some of us aren't as outspoken or radical as the rest. I just think its a very nice thing that we all have a sense of unity, We all share a common love for Star Wars or what Star Wars Galaxies was. And when you really look at it, its actually something to be proud of.

What I mean by that is, We all got...hmm I'll say "Sodomized" in some way or another from SOE. and thats really a big bummer. Especially when I remember first getting on SWG, I was such a foolish, inexperienced player. I actually walked all the way from mos eisley to Jabba's Palace. All the while eatting cinnamon toast bread and drinking gatorade. and I loved it, It was Star Warsy in that I knew how R2-D2 and 3PO felt.

I always felt a sense of adventure, and hell while my finger really hurt. (I didn't even know about num lock, now thats noobish :P) I was never actually bored, in fact. I got a lot of rifle experience gunning down Sand bandits or whatever they were.  anyway, back on topic. I just think its a great thing, that I can say.

"I'm still hurting, from taking it from SOE. but at least I know that I don't suffer alone"

I, for one. Am very glad I was able to find this community, and express my thoughts, opinons, Random Star Wars things I find on YTMND making fun of nge . And everything else, And you guys. All of you guys here are so very warm hearted and welcoming to opinions and crazy posts I make.

I just felt the need to thank everyone for taking me in, so kindly. Because I have Mind wounds and battle fatigue up the ying yang, and all of you are like entertainers.  The best part is, None of you guilt trip me into giving you tips.  I raise a glass to you all!

OH, and Obraik and Squidi. Even you guys deserve one. Not once have you criticized me in any of my SOE bashing posts. Cheers to you guys for being such a good sport

Good words. Hopefully one day we all will be playing the game we grew fond of, instead of posting our different words in this forum. I really enjoyed reading what everyone has to say. Have a good JULY 4TH!!!!

Actually, I'd like nothing more than to not be here, venting and reading hate every day.  I'd love to once again count myself among the SWG fanbois instead of feeling sorry for, disgusted with, and irratated at, the two or three that hang around on these forums.  One day, long ago, I used to be a SWG fanboi.  I think we all were at one time or another.  I'd much rather be once again part a brotherhood of happiness than one of hatred.

That day may never come again, sadly.  As the addage goes, "You can never go home again."  I think that might be the case with SWG, even with SOE-sponsored pre-CU servers (although I think we'd all love to find out).  I think the only hope left to us now is that the emulator project succeeds, and we all create our own little Star Wars Galaxies within which we play with our invited friends.

Yes, you've found a community that shares your love of what used to be, hatred of what is, and amazement at the stupidity of it all.  Welcome.  Have a cookie.

I was a fanboi too in the beginning. I would defend SWG with my dying breath at that time. But the holos started dropping and things changed. Slowly I began to see just how messed up SOE is. Then I finally cracked. Which is why I can associate myself with fanbois like pirrg, obraik, and AA. And I also know eventually enough straw will be placed on their backs to break them too. It will happen. SOE is going to make sure of it.

To the OP, I once walked from Daeric to the IO because I didnt have enough money for a ticket so I could deliver some stuff for a mission. I was very apprehensive. First time I went slowly and watched my back. Walked back too. For the rest of my time it became a common site to see me walking long distances even after vehicles were put in. If I had my Ranger back I would be walking still.

Before anyone knew that professions unlocked jedi, I walked over every single planet. Went from the NE far corner of a map straight south. Then moved over several meters and did it again walking north. Rinse and repeat. Took me days but I can say I have been over every single planet literally.

Heh, is it just me or is the SWG community that don't play the game bigger than the community that does? :P

    _____
When Sony and Lucas set out to create the NGE, we said, “How can we do this and make it similar to WoW?” We wanted it to be all about Iconic characters like Luke, combat and locking our players into a class. So we created a system that would restrict players and make all professions the same and there would be minimal gameplay around making that change. We definitely borrowed a lot of ideas from WoW that worked and figured out how to make them fit for SWG – Julio Torres (2005)

Well it.s not just you, the community is still there, just not in the game.

All of the guys I played with in SWG are either in EQ2 or WoW.

Both of which I love to play.....but admittedly not as much as SWG.

SOE, all you need to do is open say........10 servers of pre-CU and we can go back to life as it should be. And my wife can forget that i exist once more.  HEHE

No, it's not just you.  The Hate Clan that SOE created is much larger than the game's current subscriber base.

Oh, and we're a wee bit older.

I admit, I was a HUGE SWG fanboi.  I always used to say that I wouldn't leave until they permanantly shut the servers down.
Then the CU hit...  I quit for a few months.  Then a guildie needed my AS account to get some resources I had stockpiled.  Since it was active, I logged in to check things out.  I ended up reactivating my main and played until NGE went live.  I tried a trial account a few months ago and it just made me sick.  It was still an utter piece of trash.  I won't go back until classic servers open.
SOE would double subscriptions if they opened classic servers.  That's, conservatively, $1.5 million per month.  If they start fixing bugs and moving content to the classic servers, that number would only keep increasing.
They still could make SWG into a hit game.  They just have to do what needs to be done.  Open classic servers, fix bugs, add content.

I would like to thank SOE for giving me the original Galaxies to start with.  But, my thanks ends there.

The original concept was great, just reading the box at the store I couldn't wait to get it home and load it up.  I started on July 3, 2003 on the Scylla server.  I had never been addicted to a game like that before.  I was literally blown away by the immensity of the whole thing.

It was exactly what it proported to be,  Star Wars Galaxies.  Anything you knew about Star Wars was here, be it from the movies or extended universe, you could find almost anything or mainly any Profession.  Then, they started adding things like the "Cries of Aldaraan" story arcs which were great if you ask me, and then vehicles, then space...   it seemed I had found a universe I never wanted to leave!!  And never planned to...

I am not an idiot, I know others do not feel the way I do about these times,  but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that more people enjoyed these time than do the NGE days that are there now...

Now don't get my wrong,  I spent most of my days as a solo bounty hunter not tied to any guild or affiliation for the most part except occasionally joining to help some friends out along the way,  but many of these noob guilds fell apart quickly as people joined the larger, more established guilds,  but it was above all else FUN to live in this continually evolving and turbulant universe.

Then, Jedi started to populate the servers,  and I quite frankly loved to see it.  Even when they became somewhat prevalent.  I always had the option to become a Jedi (and eventually did) if I so chose,  because I had that choice!  We all did.  It was what we made it!

If developement had only given us bug fixes, passes over the GCW, and the means by which to actually participate in the GCW it would have been great.  Even the original concept of the CU was great,  but got lost  in the world of WOW and particle effects that totally upset the look and feel of the Star Wars universe.

Once this was done the Management of this game was dead set to follow WOW at WOWs pace with no further thought of the community that had gotten them this far.  They only saw WOW numbers and wanted it.  And from that day forward this once Great MMORPG ceased to have it's own soul, the soul of the community, and took on a posessed WOW alter ego and lost all that it was to the point we now have NGE and a dieing community.  I have not been subscribed since January really, and reading those official forums can see no reason to go back.....

Would classic servers help?  I dunno,  I know I would give it a shot,  but SOE has so alienated a once strong community of diehard fanbois and sent their infatuation of the game so far in the other direction of despise and hatred I don't know that at this point even classic servers can bail this game out.

There will always be a soft spot for me for the game I once played,  but I have come to realize those fun days are gone  forever, evaporated into memories just as SOE has evaporated a once thriving community of like minded Star Wars Galaxies fans...

One thing about the NGE is that it made me do laundry more often-- so CHEERS SOE -- my boxers are much fresher then before!!!

The fact that the SWG boards are usually the busiest on this site is a huge testament to how many people want a deep engrossing Star Wars MMO experience as opposed to the shallow NGE.

Hi my forum name is Kryogenic and I'm an ex-SWGaholic.

Seriously though, look at all the people that post on a regular basis here about SWG. We could be putting money into a worthy company's pocket.

I wish someone would make a SWG 2 or open up some preNGE servers. I don't care if they're CU or Original.
