Can I play this game SOLO

DarklordSOALDarklordSOAL Member Posts: 5

I am thinking about getting this game finally and I was wondering. Can I play this game and progress solo or is it pretty much mandatory to group up? I Know its called "Guild Wars" hence the need for a guild......but....my play hours vary drastically so I was really wondering if I could make it in this game solo. Thanks in advance for your input.

It is virtually required in most areas of the game to have a group, but fear not. A.Net has added AI controled henchmen to the game so that you'll never have to team up with another player. I know several people that have beaten all of Prophecies with henchmen, and they're quite a bit stronger in Factions. So, if you know that you're going to need to bail at some random point, or if you're concerned about lagging out, take the henchies and have no worries.

It's an mmorpg, why would you want to play an mmorpg solo?

I don't think it is the goal... ^^
However some quests can be made alone or with mercenaries...
Well in my point of view, it is less interesting and not the goal, once again... ;)

yes u can easily solo guild wars, especially the missions coz theres henchman instead of people :)

however it is an mmo and mmos are best played with others, pvp u cant do solo and u cant have much fun in the game because it is called "guild wars" meaning best played with a guild :P

I would'nt....but at the same time I don't want to get home late from work some night, and want to log in but know its pointless if I can't find someone to group with. My intent is not to play strictly solo. I would group anytime possible....but I also don't want to get into one of those games where if you can't group up....then you can't accomplish anything if you know what i mean.

you really need to hook up with a guild who plays during your play time, the game just nowhere near as much fun as playing with a group of people, try switching to the american servers if you on the european time zone, or visa versa, I mean even team wipes are funny if your playing with your mates.

Pretty much anytime I've been on, I've never had trouble finding a group.  You have to remember EVERYONE plays on the same servers.  There is no sharding or worlds.  If you are on the America's server you are there with everyone else that is on the America's server.  The only seperation is generally America's and European.  You can travel back and forth between the different regions at will.  So you can almost always find someone online to play with.

And as cool a concept as the henchies are, they are only AI.  They still do stupid things sometimes, and their pathfinding can leave a lot to be desired.  However, they do work pretty good, and I would recommend playing at least once with them, as no other MMO has the same concept (or working nearly as well).
