After WoW...

What's next? I've been out of the loop as far as keeping up with what is next on the horizon.

I like the solo aspect of WoW from 1-59, not having to group all the time. At 60 raiding unfortunately takes up way too much time if you let it.

I think most existing games I've already played or at least tried and don't really want to go back to (EVE (played a few months), EQ2 (played a few months), COH (played several months)/V (trial), SoR (trial), AO (trial)).

I've heard of Vangaurd, what else? I never played EQ would it be worth trying the new expansion (?) server people are talking about here?

I'm not trying to call myself anything. I'm just looking for another mmorpg to try.

Edit: I think its funny my first post here in a long time (a year?) and the first response I get is a flame. :D

    Thanks for the welcome back!

Hmmm...  Soloable, casual player friendly theme-park style MMOs.

I'm drawing a blank.  ;)  Part of why WOW is so darned popular is because it's pretty unique in that regard.  You might get some enjoyment out of D&DO.  SWG was specifically modified to appeal more to WOW-loving players, so you might get some play out of that as well.  I liked DAOC back when I played; the game feels a bit dated these days, but it's still a nice game.  Not as solo-friendly as WOW, though.

DAoC is not solo friendly... you can have some fun solo fighting in the keep battles but you will get owned all the time. You could stay in the low level battlegrounds but it will become old fast.

I don't even know of a solo friendly mmorpg coming out... All I'm looking forward too is Pirates of the Burning Sea. Anyone know if WAR solo friendly..... I don't think enough information out yet on that game.

Alot of us are in the same boat.  I tried all the ones you mentioned minus AO as well.  I am on my second month of EQ2 and its fun so far.  Digging the crafting, exploring, etc.  But I am not tied down to it by any means.

I am keeping an eye on three upcoming MMORPGs atm.  Vanguard, Age of Conan, and Warhammer.  I probably wont pre-order them, but will watch their forums and what people say about them here before I give them a shot.  SOE is now involved with Vanguard, as well as EA is now involved with Warhammer.  I dont know if these are good or bad things though.  We'll see.

One thing for sure - the demand is out there... we simply need some "blow me outta the water" good supply now!

After playing WoW, I shot my copy with my revolver and turned back to drugs, whores, and booze. More fun.

Guild Wars is still an MMO.

I've downloaded DAoC and will be giving it a try soon. But I'm also interested in what's new coming up. I'll look into the ones mentioned - Vanguard, etc. Now I see why people want to get into betas. They want something new to play!

Still with the WoW bashing eh? I'm not asking for anyone to play it. I'm asking what else is there for me to play! :D

Oh good to see (or sad to see?) that I'm not alone. I was happy with WoW for quite a while, so I never kept up on what games were out there. Now I'm not necessarily unhappy, just dissatisfied I should say. So I'm back here on mmorpg.com looking for advice.
