Stupid reasons for getting yourself banned from the Official Forums.

Inspired by the reason kaibigan34 got banned, I've made this thread so we can all share the stupid reasons why we've been banned from the official forums.

I'll go first (or second if you've read kaibigan34's thread).

I was banned on the official forums for stating that Wal-Mart actually will accept opened software and that they are quite sympathetic if you have a reasonable story, such as 'the game is not what it says on the box'.

Anyone else have a better (dumber) reason for getting banned?

Back in August of 2005, the developers snuck in the xp penalty for being in a group. In 24 hours, the discussion thread was filled with 4000+ posts asking why the change was made, and why there was no mention of the change in the notes.

The first post the next morning from the devs was from Thunderheart. You know, the "Community Relations Manager". Ignoring the outraged posts in the development discussion section (the 4000+ thread), instead he posted in this thread with this comment:

Another one I like is the Fett one, just started it but it pretty funny, "So can you tell me anything about my brother?" "Yeah he's missing a hand, See ya!" More like these please.

Yeah, the fact that you can go back to him and he "recognizes" you is a really neat aspect to the quest. I find myself occasionally wandering into the cantina to see how he's doing...heh...

I decided to call him on this. I don't remember the exact wording of the post (and it was edited by Virrago), but I alluded to my 10+ years of Customer Service for background. Then I might have said something along the lines of:

Ignoring a thread with thousands of upset customers to post in a "What was your favorite" thread shows a lack of Customer Relations skill bordering on, if not crossing over, ineptitude.

That earned me a 5 day ban, which was lifted early after I sent three emails to SOE (one a day for three days).

I dunno that it is dumber, but one of my alt accounts was permabanned for participating and aiding the early December riots after the NGE....

I got banned for two weeks for starting a thread called "Nerf SOE". A thread calling for all the forum bans and deletions to stop.

It didn't matter, my sub ran out before my ban was timed out...

i got banned for 30,000 minutes (twice) for my old sig. it now sits just below my name on these forums.

Good thread idea!

I've had 2 accounts banned:

1st- Was after the NGE launch, I made a poll post durring the Flame Wars that said "Wow, the Forums are on fire! Anyone have any guess when this will stop?" Prema-Ban

2nd- After that ban, I switched to account 2. That account was banned for replying to Flame Starter whining about the Elder Jedi rewards, saying that if he didn't get them he would quit. I replied "This is your 3rd post about this, stop whining and quit already! STOP SPAMMING ABOUT THIS!" Perma-Ban

I contested both, and got the reply that the bans were out of line, but they were going to let them stand based on my "Anti-NGE" (Garva used that exact term) posting. They considered my post about the ethical rollout of the NGE as "Anti-SOE" and that meant I wouldn't be allowed to post on any of my accounts. They then banned my last 2 accounts without one post.

I filed a complaint with the San Diego BBB, included their emails as well as other inforamtion, and recieve an award in my favor after some time. SOE was also "ordered" to unban my forum accounts, but they didn't. I have an open investigation still. It seems they recieved so many complaints about SOE they assigned a case worker for them, and they're backed up by months.

I got suspended for three days once when Garva and SWGMod001 was going on a lock/delete rampage. I was in the middle of replying to what was a rather benign post. Unfortunately the post was locked and moved before I could finish my reply.

So I made a new post titled "And another post bites the dust...." with a link to the locked post. My only words were "So how is Hitler doing these days?"

When the video for the SWG (Australian Avian Creature) was released, numerous posts were discussing it. SWGMOD001 put up a post directing us to post anything related to that topic into the General Star Wars (Non-SWG) section.

I posted a warning (not a threat) to SOE in that very forum telling them that if they do not release pre-CU servers now, somebody else would soon, so it was in their best interest to do so.

4 hours later a new thread was posted by a Dev (TH I think) stating that any post discussing the funny SWG bird creature from down under would receive a ban.

He never said it was retroactive. I was two week banned for "Trolling pre-NGE rhetoric".

This is funny -- considering since the NGE they have had to up thier MOD levels more then ever... hmm wonder why.

Note: my account "isakreot" I had 12,399 posts on it. I was banned on it twice -- once for posting as link to the Shifty 5 video "All she wants is BANG BANG BANG" which by all means is funny but still considered stick figure porn (I kid you not I had a PM that said -- "Banned for stick figure porn" -- it was worth it for that.

I got a 5 dayer for that.

Second time on that account was for arguing a fact sad at one of the Fan Fests... Devs and Mods to this day hate seeing facts... they just hate it, even more so when one of them says it then has to change thier mind about what they said.

I got (Get this) 6 hour ban for that.

On my friends adamrk:

I must have been warned over 10 times, not to mention posts deleted altered, changed, locked -- and PMd at least 30 times from both Devs and Mods -- about posting facts and opinions and holding them to the forum and game play rules. His account was paid in full for a year long before the NGE hit, so when he quit of course he gave me access, I canceled mine and used his.

I was banned 3 times two for posting quotes and facts, which I was told not to do -- because it "causes players not to react accordingly".. (yeah, I know) -- The third was a slam on a GS that asked people about "What emotes they would like to see in the game"... my reply was "There should be a one that turned players into Sheep".... none the less that got the final blow to that account.

I was warned at least 10 times-- though, it was worth it and my friend did not care. It's funny though, once you leave them it's as if another person just slides in to fill the rants. So far the one thing the NGE has done... is that it has made the player base 1000 times more angry and vocal thats for sure.

Crap even old people that never posted, are now posting... gotta love that.

i didn't do anything as good as those, just troll/spamed pre-nge ftw!!!!!!!

about a 1000 times. ban went 3 days. i'm back in the official forums, and i have to tell you, it must be impossible to get banned now.

a thread called where is smed? i answered "in hell if we are lucky" maybe that will do it

oh lord , where do i start lol.

1st account- right before CU , i helped organize riots that crashed a server or two. Got teleported to space withuot my ship , sent in a ticket and it got closed without a response in about 5 minutes. I posted screenies of the ticket - of space without a ship - the closed ticket permaban from forums and 15 tickets and 2 days later permabanned in game for harassing the CSR's( btw The toon is still in space that was 3 days before CU).

2nd acount lasted about 20 hours after 1st for posting how I "really" felt at that point about it - perma forum ban .

3rd account ( forgot about it ,has 1 post total lol too bad its now inactive)

4th account ( the free one i traded for) got a 3 dayer for calling out garva about 2 weeks into NGE on something he said. 15 minutes after the 3 dayer i got 5 day one for calling him a coward trying to silence me rather than answer to the charge. The day swgmod001 appeared i got another 10 day for asking if SOE outsourced their mod jobs to a local austin prison. And after that i got perma-banned for calling out SOE for failing to act on a serious sexual harrassment charge.

Yes i must get pleasure from pain.

EDIT - on a side note , i bet i am the only person here to have had a thread in the GAT deleted for being off topic.

I was banned for posting a link to a hilarious movie which broke down all social barriers. I am not gay, I am not a lesibian (that does sound fun though) and I am anything but a racist. The movie is so outlandish that I'm positive that anyone reading the review will be spitting their favorite beverage out their noses.

Incidentally Garva changed his initial comments at the end of the thread. They initially said that the humour WASN'T funny, and wasn't appreciated, and the comment about trolling was a lot harsher.

Mind you Garva is Im sure, a 12 year old with a God complex !!

Oh boy.

I been banned from the SoE Forums quite a bit. Recent banning was jagging Mod1 by posting fast-footed New Hollander, which is the English translation of Dromaius novaehollandiae. New Holland is Australia, and a native bird is the Emu. I got a warning, so I continue to post and banned for spamming. Yet I been banned probally over 15 times with all my forum accounts.

Now we'll discuss my two perma-forum..AND ingame bans.

The current GCW Corrospondant, or senator. Whatever they call em now...he's BadMisterFrosty. Well he came into power by taking advantage of a situation of the GCW forums, using the Jedi Fanboi hatred to his power and ideas of granduer for the GCW.
Auraboron, or Sir'hiss at the time was a Bria Rebel. I was a Bria Imperial. He was a forum troll, and quite an act.
He was one the forces behind a PvP drought on Bria, called Operation Blueballs goal of this was to starve the Imperial PvPers to the point we A) Removed our bases so the Rebellion declares victory

We quit to the point the Rebellion can start winning. He never was seen PvPing yet he cared so much about it. Even in the Base Wars I hardly saw him at all. The day he became Corrospondant, he made a post on the Bria forums to rub it in the Imperial's faces, which he of course edited.

Now for the Introduction thread posted by Tiggs. Many Bria Imperials went to oppose Sir'hiss's new position. We told about his past and what he did or didn't do in great detail to deserve this job. People listened, opposed, flamed us. Including the ex-GCW corro Jest3r. I finnally gave up later, yet that's when Tiggs decided to oppress Bria. She posted a reminder and banned three people. One was relieved of the ban, while the other two. Myself and and a fellow guildie were banned. The person who luckily got off the ban was my Guild Leader.

So I had to get a new account, luckily I was ingame when SoE banned my toons. I dropped all my things off on them, and went offline for the night. Never to log back in on them, yet I still had my attachments and weapons in a house with guildies on admin. That's all that mattered really...I guess.

Sir'hiss got in trouble for making a focus thread suggesting removing Jedi from PvP for all the Jedi whiners(even in the CU, whiners about a completly crappy class), it was funny. It was like "I told you so." as they banned him and finally removed his status of corrospondant. Tiggs, the one who introduced him and had me banned went and said some things she shouldn't said, and lost her job. Sir'hiss quit. So I outlasted them both.

HAHAHA Hey its you man... good to see you here as well. And yes, you would think they would have warned you a few times at least. But yeah I gave it a good run I used photos facts and quotes... it worked but got out of hand. Those silly Devs just hate those..

Hiss.... Oh my you know how well him and I got along ........ From the Jedi attempt of lameness to his ideas..

The best part about this is that after a while... even the NGE turned off one of the biggest fanbois out there. He dropped off the planet after a couple months of the NGE --- he even I think admited that it sucked..lol Kinda ironic how that all works out.

I tell ya , it's funny we have not heard from him about the state of the game... he was so sure of himself, he did not listen to us... he thought he knew better... looks like he was wrong.

I got banned a few months back when the developers said they would add smuggling as soon as the figured out what the word "smuggle" meant. I told them to go ask Clinton what the word "is" means and BOOM! I got banned. Thought it was a perma ban. But found out later it was a temp ban.
