Originally posted by kahnz that Aion game reminds me alot of RF online. Cool looking styles, pretty graphics. Alot of that trailer was a movie though, not taken from game footage. Also, in the actual in game footage the characters were just mowing through mobs that were obviously much lower level than they were. Are we going to see another grindfest where higher level characters come to the lowbie grounds because it is better to kill 20 low level monsters than 1 high level? Also, the female character was primarily a mage, but the male character used a sword, a staff, and a bow. Are there going to be limits? or is it like RFO where you grind every skill to the max? I am 100% for skill based systems (if that's what this game is), but there has to be limits so every character can't be uber-solo-master. Oh yeah, the movie didn't show any group action. No groups? No thanks
I dunno if i am really excited about any new MMO on the way. G&H looks nice and I trust that Funcom will take some chances with AoC. Those two get my votes.
Movie? what are you talking about? EVERY bit of the game was actually gameplay video, except for a small bit close to the end. Aion won't be a grinding game, it will be using what they call an unique way of advancing your character, and none of the usual korean grinding will be in the game, at least thats what the developers say.

Personally I am waiting for PSU (I still have my Master System Phantasy Star games so I will atelast play iot offline), PotBS (if it is ever released), STO, Stargate Worlds (I have hope, but I am not a fan of SG-1 at all, so I doubt I will like it in the end) and Fallen Earth. Hopefully one will be attention grabbing.

Well, there's a difference between what MMOGs I'm personally looking forward to, and what MMOGs I think will be the most popular. Having said that:
1. Tabula Rasa. It's sci-fi, it's shooting aliens, it's Richard Garriot. I want to believe it'll be fun and different from the usual fantasy grind.
2. Warhammer Online. Great potential with this one if they make it casual friendly.
3. Gods and Heroes. Hiring NPCs to enable solo players? Yes please!
Further into the future, the ones that interest me the most are:
1. Stargate Worlds. This should be a great setting for a MMOG. Don't screw it up.
2. Star Trek Online. This is another great setting for a MMOG, but I fear they ARE screwing it up. Still, it can't be worse that Star Wars Galaxies, can it?
3. BioWare's MMOG. Whatever it is, it should be great.
The only game I am really excited about is Age of Conan.
This is really the only game I see trying to do anything innovative or different than the other guys. The more action oriented combat, that turns some people off about the game, is the thing that most makes me want to play it. If they manage to do the things they are attempting, this game will have good combat, deep quests, crafting, player cities... I could go on all day.. if you haven't read anything about it, you should
There are a few other games that look like they might be fun, but they are all too far from release or too stingy with info to get me excited about them.. STO, Fallen Earth and Stargate are examples.
Most of the other games coming out have already managed to lose my attention. I don't like the Korean games. None of them ever seem to give you anything to do other than grind combat. I also don't care for open PvP and I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to roleplay in a video game... so that rules out quite a few games. I flatly refuse to play any game published by SOE... I am including Vanguard and GnH in that list. I won't bore anyone with the details on my SOE boycott, it's all been posted a thousand times before. After playing the trial for DnD online, I can't imaging LOTR online being any good. I was pretty excited about WAR, but besides the fact that it doesn't seem to be really doing anything new or different, I really don't think they can stick to their original vision for the game with EA looking out for their bottom line. I dismissed the WoW clone comments people initially made about this game, but with EA running the show, I don't really see how it could be anything but a carbon copy of WoW... I mean, isn't that why EA bought Mythic in the first place?
Roma Victor is another one a lot of people have mentioned. That game launched a couple of days ago, and it seems to have gone off about as well as DnL. Sure the devs seem like nice guys, so they aren't taking the same trashing that Farlan did from their subscribers, but they certainly aren't getting glowing reviews. Most of the hardcore fans say they will post a review once all the bugs are worked out and some more of the games features are turned on... this being a LIVE game, and allegedly out of beta, that is really all the review i needed to hear... buggy and not feature complete.
warhammer...its made buy mythic and its in the little warhammer series they have by the way try warhammer:dawn of war it was freaking sweet.Even if EA bought mythic that just means cash for game and stuff im not into much detail about it.... and pirates of the burning sea. Well it about time theres a pirate MMORPG. hope this isnt confusing...i doubt it isnt xD. By the way WH would of got much more praise if some stupid WOW kids didnt bring its hype down just because they think its a WOW clone when WOW was made after warhammer which means wow is a warhammer clone. The hype would be higher if plp didnt lower it just because EA bought it or whatever it did they forget that its GW and they realy cant change it at all so its just gonna be pure awesome mythic entertainment.

Your expectations seem low enough that they won't, lol. EQ was bad from the start, and WAR will just be WOW2.
Expectations low? Nah I've just gotten to a point where I don't belive anything I hear about a game untill I've actually tried it out myself. To many people hype games up and devs promis a lot they can't deliver.
EQ bad and WAR being WOW2 is your opinion. Its still the only 2 upcoming games I've found something that interests me.

Par yes. Both games state that they will have dynamics and content that I will be interested in. If I like blue then why go for yellow?
A mmorpg has to have ffa pvp, and a meta-game with winners and loosers, and no instances. And I need non-linear games, where I can play the game like i want, not just follow the laid out path. Otherwise whats the use making a huge persistent mmorpg world, if you are restricted to follow only one path like in a single player game?
So only one interesting game:
1) Darkfall
If I want to chat/socialize with people, I prefer MSN or irc instead of the eq/wow/itembased/pve line of games. I get alot more work done, than if i had to do the required braindead grind activities these games seem to substitute for content.
Darkfall on the other hand is pure freedom baby. Play the game any damn way you want. Some highlights for me are non-linear gameplay with no restrictions. Player-skill based pvp, mounted combat, World conquest, city warfare, clan wars, sea battles, assasinations, politics, intrigue, explore the huge handcrafted world, craft items, setup a trade empire, run a pirate clan, or play as mercenaries hiring yourself out to the highest bidder, etc etc.
The possibilites are endless. Like in EVE the devs give us the tools, and let us (the players) decide how to play the game.
Other mmorpgs are not really worth mentioning, they are either more of the same pve/item grind'ish eq/wow clones, or some sort of guildwars clone, filled with instances and restricted battleground'ish arena pvp.

Agreed there is zero to point WAR to be a WoW2.First mythic has its own ideas of gameplay and its totally different from blizzard's ideas.
Secondly there is totally no information pointing to a WoW clone.
Thirdly the graphic models look like WoW.Newsflash, warcraft copied the graphics of warhammer models which has been around longer then warcraft. So who stole from who?
Only issue is EA now controls mythic so there is always a risk of making mythic pump out a WoW clone but there been no information to show this is going to happen.

1. Saga of Ryzom's "Ryzom Ring" expansion
2. Trials of Ascension (focus on RP)
3. Hero's Journey (extensive character customization, developers' focus on RP)
4. URU Live (always appreciate unique games, and Uru is as unique as it gets among MMOs)
5. Fallen Earth (the RP possibilities of a post-apocalyptic world and the various factions that spring up are intriguing)
6. Antilia (something about playing an animal-like character is appealing to me)
7. Stargate Worlds (as long as they keep the idea of being able to play a Goa'uld/Tok'ra)
8. Star Trek Online (I used to do Star Trek forum RP, plus it sounds/looks like the graphics will be extremely good)
9. Aion (wings!)
10. Pirates of the Burning Sea (meh, might be interesting)
