    From the article
"It's a sad day for New York families," said plaintiff Kathy Burke of
Schenectady, N.Y., who is raising an 11-year-old son with her partner
of seven years, Tonja Alvis. "My family deserves the same protections
    as my next door neighbors."

It's nice to know that our government uses their power to take away the rights of a minority until they're second class citizens. I personally always thought the Constitution was meant to protect my and others' unalienable rights.

It's nice to see even such staunch liberal states aren't completely bonkers.

Good thing there isn't anything in the constitution about marriage.

A definite step in the wrong direction IMO.

The point of the Constitution is to have all the people have equal rights and that means equal protection. Marriage gives protection under the law and if some people can't get that then they are second class citizens and this could be really bad for the families and specially the ones who have children if those laws aren't there to protect them if anything goes wrong.

This is called discrimination and is not something a free nation like the USA tolerates.
