It's not like you're paying monthly for it!
Seriously, consider WoW which is just a copy of every other MMORPG just a little better done. It cost 50 dollars and then 15 dollars a month to play wow! In a year of playing, you'd spend 250 dollars approximately on your first year.
Roma-victor cost less than 30 (for beta testers they got it for less than 20) and people are complaining!
I think people aren't used to small businesses trying to make their way into the big market. These guys put their heart and soul into trying to make a game, and never received a decent paycheck. This is their first time they're seeing money from the consumers (enough to give decent paychecks anyway) and so now instead of working small amounts of time every week, they can start dedicating all their lives to this game. You're going to start seeing graphical improvements, gameplay improvements and everything else since now they don't have to work second jobs to support their families, this is their job.
You payed less than 30 dollars for a game that in a year or two will be an AAA game, and you'll never have to pay more.
So I reccommend everyone to buy it! The more money they get the more they can do with the game!

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
If you pay even $1 you become a customer and have the right to complain if a product is not performing to your expectation.
If there is changes then fine if not then ofc you have the option of quiting but like every product you have the right to review it as long as you pay.
Also you state there is no monthly fee yet you do need to buy virtual currency to be able to have some degree of fun.So it cost the inital cost + the sky is the limit(all subjective here).
Well news flash...they are going to implement more features, thats obvious. Within 5 days of release they've fixed 2 really bad issues they had just discovered when the game went live. Yeah they weren't there at the end of gamma, so we have no idea how they came back.
Anyway, point being they are going to continue updating it frequently. This isn't going to be like guildwars. What you see at the moment is not what you get. There are a hell of a lot of bugs and balance fixes in need, and they are soon implementing speed grass, though I would like it if they could add more then just that.
The be all and end all of this discussion is the game is not going to be seized in development. The game won't fail, there are just too many RedBedlam fanbois. You could tell if you were a barb or in one of the main guilds of Rome.
By the way, eventually the economy will be in controll of the players for good quality items. So those players who have a good business won't have to rely on the Verm anymore. NPC prices also change, since the prices for items from players will go down. NPC prices are high because there is no player economy.
You fail again to see there are several hundred game mechanics put into the economy, all effecting eachother.
By the way, I think you failed to notice the feature called Errants. Yes they are these small missions which NPCs can give you so you can get money. Huh....the game can actually give you money....omg so why do they have the verm account??? .... Cause you get a better amount of money through the verm and that money will be going into the dev's pay check. You do expect them to eat drink and have a roof over their heads don't you???
The verm was made not to cheat players but to help them. They have the freedom to choose whether they pay now or whenever they want. Any decent player would give some money for verm. Only time you'll probably really need to give verm money is in the begining. Then after a while you can support yourself
I don't know what to put here yet.
You can see it as whining its your choice. For others its called complaining to get matters sorted.
Again you are new so i will say it -this is a generic mmorpg site.We say whats wrong with the games and often give praise when this matters are sorted. This site is not here to cater to rabid fanboys or rabid trolls.
And how can the game seize in development when its already live?Anyhow unimportant.
But if you wish to end the discussion its again your choice .I will continue to post on this game and all others i have played and voicing my opinon as things improve or get worse and encourage all to speak freely as long as you remain civil.

Are you arguing that, even though he paid for his product, he should not whine about it? I understand your point of view, but I am of the mind where a person who buys a product has a right to voice concerns and dislikes about that product if they wish. Whine away!
-W.
agree ^^
another irritating argument i kept hearing when i was complaing was:
"..but RedBedlam is very dedicated, small and works hard! Therefor you may not complain! Go complain to WoW they're big!"
.. yeah right
.. i agree with GrimSkunk2 that the game eventualy will be good.. ...in couple months.. when player economy is strong. RV after all has a lot of dedicated members who are blind for the bad graphics and weird bugs .. which is actually positive

I know about this website, and that people like to comment on games they recently played but you seem to mention only the bad. I am sorry but I have missed most of the good you have said about RV. And yes there is some really great things about the game.
I just find most of the critiscism to be carebear issues. The game being too hard, and such. Its not really, maybe an inefficient interface, you just need to have some patience. I mean for god sakes...you found Attending impossible when its such a simple thing. Its boring but its doesn't even represent part of the game experience. Its just a stupid thing to do to get out of noob mode. How can you make such a big deal about it? Don't be a Jorev and make one small issue so massive. Its a small thing which after you have done, is OVER!
I don't know what to put here yet.

I give them a lot of credit for trying to make a game, but they get no special treatment from me. I don't care if they are a small company...it's not an excuse. I'm sorry if I come off sounding harsh, but it's just the way I feel about the situation. I've said it a hundred times, I'm not going to say to myself, "Well, they are a small company, I should give them a break" when I'm trying to immerse myself in a sub-par game.
As far as it being cheaper than WoW, this game lets you buy in game items for RL cash. The economy is going to be a complete disaster....I don't care about the so-called "cap" they have in place. I'm sure it won't be low enough. I can see addicts spending a fortune on this game. It's going to get ugly. Basically this game is, the more money you give them, the more uber you become. I really just hate this business model...can't you tell? heheh..
Good luck to you RB. Again, I give you a lot of credit for trying something different.

If eve got a lot of heat for initally making ppl mine mindnumbing for a whole hour at the start(i was in beta and warned ccp about this repeatedly they let it go live and got plenty of heat and i believe its changed now).
Then i cannot see why RV should not get even more heat for making your first 7hrs+ in the game(more for many) an unpleasant and mindnumbing experience.
TBH i already like others stated how boring it is and would have left it at that for people to read and know.
But when people come and post how fun it is ,it misleads people into believing that and such i continue to point out how boring it is as often as fanboys try to make it look like a christmas holiday.
Also i see posts like "i got our of attending in 1 day only took me 8 hrs".Excuse me but for a casual gamer(which i am not even) thats 1 week of pure boredom if they can tolerate it.
I cannot see the wisdom of a new game having the first order of buisness to bore people. One thing all mmorpg try nowadays is make people fall in love with it at once even if the rest of the game is junk.

More ways out of the attending will be in. Personally this is what I'd like to see:
The master can give the player a choice of the below methods of getting out of attending. This way people will get the skills they intend on using. The master will buy the finished products for use in other attending quests for those that choose to take a different route. For example, the farmer that makes flax sells it to the master and the master will use that flax for the people who choose the tailoring route. Smiths will sell tools armor and weapons for use in the combatant quests. This way nothing is just created out of thin air.
Farmer
Combatant
Builder
Crafter
Tailor
1. Create clothing.
Smith
Other people on the boards are doing the same thing, listing what other attending quests they'd like to see RB put in game. And KFR came on to tell them to keep up the discussion, it's got them talking at the RB towers.

Nice idea !
It gives choices. As long as you make it more of a short tutorial rather then a looong task i think thats perfect.
What do the rest of you think?
I don't mind complaints, to me a complaint is to say that something isn't going the way you expected. Whining is when you cry about things that everyone knows and expected to be the way they are.
It's not constructive to say, "The graphics suck," Red Bedlam has release screen shots that are true and they've said they're intending to improve the graphics. There's no lie or surprise or new information there so just quit beating that horse that's been dead a long time.
If someone complains about the starting time, well I think that's a legitimate complaint. First it's new and a surprise and second it's something that RedBedlam hasn't already said they were going to change. It's a good sign in my opinion that they're already looking into it.
Complain away, but don't be petty children and say RB lied, or graphics suck. I keep expecting someone to complain that there's no magic.
Asdar
They need to make attending more flexible and create a way for non-crafters to get out of attending from what I gather.
Edit: Especially fighter types. Since you can't actually fight untill you are outta attending (ie: the start/tutorial) and I see that as a major flaw in the current system.
