"And what would you do with a brain if you had one?" - Wizard of Oz
Console - NES Mario Bros 3, still way to much fun to play.
PC - Not really sure what constitutes as old school there. Homeworld is an old game I love, Rainbow Six (the only fps I've ever played online for a good amount of time).

haha, nice, it's from the opening sequence, game friggin rules, i still load it up now and then, never beat it yet, hard as hell, but a whole lotta fun.
EDIT: I've never met someone who has beaten it, it's regarded as one of the hardest games of all time, if you have please post tips. er actually, PM them to me, it could be pretty extensive.

I always get REalllly really far... blowin up their capital ships... and stuff... They start attackin my ships... And stuff... But when the superpowers start lapsing with the funding... everything goes down hill...
And around that same time.. My favorite character that i'm playing with Who i have happend to name after myself... Will die in a mission... And I try to load the game.. But i never can beat the mission without him... And if I beat the mission he dies... IT SUCKS.. that same exact thing happes to me in Final Fantasy Tactics.
Anyways... no i haven't met anyone that's beaten it either... But most faqs i've looked at all say that it's really simple... BULL

The maze of Galious: knightmare 2 (Daima Shikyou Galious: Majou Densetsu 2) released at the same time as The Legend of Zelda and was at least as good as Zelda, too bad not many ppl knows it
has to be Adventure on the Atari 2600 for a real old school classic. or if you fancy taking the term litterally, skool daze on the C64 Actually, i'd probably say Settlers, or Lemmings 2, never got bored of those games...

heh, there's always plenty of people willing to say it's easy, just like all hard games or levels in games, but i've searched the net many many times and no one seems able to take the title as the person who rules x-com by posting a good strategy.
And as Britoca mentioned, yeah the Space Quest series was pretty good too.
For me if it was the early nineties... If the game was a Microprose, Interplay, Sierra or Bulfrog game.. then I loved it...

Mario games Commander Keen games Apogee games in general(major striker) Doom games Wolfenstein RC Super Pro Dungeon Keeper(if that is old school) Battle Isle Games X-com games(fuck yeah!) Virtua Fighter Sonic games Nomad (one of the coolest game of it's time) and a lot more.. oh the memories...
I usually judge it myself as something that's so old it's hard to come by now, or is made for a platform that's no longer supported/developed. a few exeptions would be things like consoles that died quick and so on, so probably would be older than 4/5 years, and fitting into the first areas. my personal view, anyway. oh, and i'd like to add Syndicate wars to my earlier list, loved that game, and would be great to see a new syndicate title with the classic gameplay

For PC I would have to say the original Red Alert. I played that game for hours on end on a computer that would barely function today if i hadn't blew it up a couple of fourth of July's ago.
For Console, Mortal Kombat 2 is on the top of the list. Also anyone remember the old Contra games for SNES? Wow were those addicting.
