Guild Wars: 4,000 Accounts Banned for Botting

StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

Guild Wars has announced the banning of over 4,000 accounts due to cheating and botting. The developers over at Guild Wars promise to do their best to keep the game bot-free as it de-solidifies the game's economy:

In order to maintain a solid game economy, we constantly monitor the game for the use of cheats and exploits. Over the course of the last week, we banned more than 4,000 accounts of players using "bot" programs intended to mine the game for gold and items. The use of such programs is strictly against our User Agreement, and their use can have a negative effect on the game's economy and on all players who play the game legitimately. We will remain diligent on the matter of bot use, and will continue to take action against those accounts involved in such use.

Having no subscribtion fees certainly give devs freedom when it come to banning accounts.

No corporate enforcer to tell these devs: You are cutting our revenues guys!  In fact, the corporate enforcers figure it have a chance to sell back 1 box, depending on how the banned persons react, which means, if they deserve it, they will strongly consider buying back a box.  If they didn't deserve it, they will just walk away, but again, no subscribtion fees give devs a LOT of freedom.
