And yes you can use the same character, it just gives you access to the mainland.

Is it just a months charge or is there an additional charge for the client to go to full?
Thanks!

There is just the monthly fee, nothing more
And in order to move from Ruins of Silan to the mainland yoy need a subscribed account.

I just moved over on 29 June after having played for about 5 days on Silan. As far as content goes, there is a ton to do, it's just not offered in the same manner as on the starter island.
You start in your capitol city which is in a region. The region should have some green mobs but mostly blues up to 5s. I'd suggest exploring the lands to see where mobs are both herbivores, carnivores and hominivores(Kitin).
I'm zorai so there are 3 other towns in the region. I went to all to get a sense of their layout and which NPCs were there.
I then began to pick up missions to begin raising both my Zorai and Kami Fame, but you wouldn't do that if you wanted to be neutral. (Well, I guess you could do both sets to maintain your neutrality.) This resulted in my travelling out into the wilds to harvest or kill and sometimes had to travel to another town under a time limit.
I also began to survey the spots I prospected so I could come back to them when needed. This drove me to do more surveying. Harvesting is addictive.
There are some missions that I'll call quests as there are multiple steps involved. They seem to involve an encyclopedia that you fill in as you complete the missions. The missions drive your understanding of Atys, the religious conflict and the nature of your civilization.
I've been looking at guilds, but am still solo. I figure I'll try to get to know them in chat and in deed before I apply.
I also spend some time in the Uni channel answering questions to those new refugees on the island. Returning the favor, if you will.
Hope you see you on the mainland.
