Tired of combat centered MMORPG's

Yes, i'm tired off it. I'm tired of all those darn MMORPG's, were combat is it's driving force. Killing hoardes of enemies, player controlled or not, is starting to become dull - gives me no satisfaction. I'm tired of pointing, and clicking on the skillbar, to watch my toon attack/cast a spell. Now, i want to be more engaged in the world. I started to think about more interresting gameplay additions, where a player had to be more engaged. Why does casting a spell, only have to req. clicking on a button, while keeping track of your mana? What if spell casting req. you to draw magical symbols on your screen, symbols, which had to be memorized from your spellbook? What if crafting just doesn't req. you to collect the mats, and click on a button; But req. you to be engaged in the whole process, which could take up to several hours, depending on the object being greated? A small dagger of doubting quality could be made in 20 min, while something like a fullplate armor could take maybe even several days, each part being difficult to create? What if thiefs was actually able to steal from other characters, and NPC's, entering their house through windows, using lockpicks - Or jumping, from house to house, to gain access?

'Tis just be random thougths from an insane roleplaying gamer, who's hungry for something more engaging.

Because it would be boring. those are things that sound nice on paper, but turn out boring once you play it. things like that will become more annoying then fun.

Im sorry I couldnt resist :)

Be cautious of ATITD - Its a great game but the game re-rolls every 6 months and I hate losing that much work.
